Guest Gist Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 Why do people want McCarthy out? I think he's good cover.

They've already sent O'Grady, Dodds and Sheehan out on loan. They got fit, came back here and what happened? More weeks of virtually gameless idleness. We just don't have the structure in place to justify keeping any of our young players. It's a bloody disgrace. Now, I'd doubt any of them are fit enough to replace strikers who're averaging a measly one goal a game and haven't had a shot on target for two games and left-backs who, on damp pitches, are being totally shown up for the limited, slow-turning players that they are.
Geo V Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 Some youngsters go on loan and come back well on it and some just become nothings. Over the years we have seen so called starlets like England prospect Tommy Wright (??????) didnt amount to much despite the ridiculous claims that he could be quality. Our youth team continues to impress so lets hope some make the grade as not many have gone on in the last 10 plus years despite big fees, like Piper, Joachim and Kitson.

None of our 19/20-year-olds are going to improve sitting on a sodding bench watching such a thoughtless, negative and totally uninspired team as Leicester are these days. The New Year matches only emphasised in technicolour the problems which have existed for well over a year. Our youth team might impress but in the present situation the minute the players graduate from the Academy they are straight into a cul-de-sac with no room to turn.
Mort Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 I have seen the future and with me at the helm we won the FA Cup before I left for the riches of Newcastle Ah in my first season on Fifa Manager 07, we lost the play off final to Sunderland (2-1) but won the FA cup three days later (2-0)... a cup run definded by our quater final win over Chelsea (1-0) and the semi final win over Middlesborough (3-1) ...once my January exams are out of the way i can crack on with strengthening the squad and making a second push for promotion
lildave3 Posted 4 January 2007 Posted 4 January 2007 Much depends on who's coming in. There isn't one single player I'd worry about selling although I do wonder how good one or two would be in the right team playing the right way. Assuming we're eventually aiming for a top six place in the Championship in January I'd say: Get rid: Douglas, McCarthy, Maybury, Nils, Kenton, Low, Johnson, Sylla, Cadamarteri, Douglas, DeVries, O'Grady. Retain: Logan, Henderson, Stearman, McAuley, Kisnorbo, Hughes, Williams, Porter, Hammond, Hume, Dodds, Wesolowski, King, Fryatt, Tejan Sie, Odhiambo, Mattock, McKay, Tiatto, Sheehan, Gradel, Chambers Acquire as a minimum: Right-back, left-back, right winger, quality midfield player, left-winger, centre-forward. The squad would thus be reduced by seven players to around 28 and the odd supplementary youth player which is plenty. Other players would be moved on if better replacements could be found. To be fair we have to give Danny Cadamarteri a chance. McCarthy we should still keep, our centre backs are sometimes going to be injured or suspended after all. Nils i would keep. Elvis i would get rid of, other than that, i agree with you.

Why should we be fair to Cadamarteri?. No-one's been fair to Dodds and we know he can score goals. Cadamarteri's had more than 10 years to make an impression but failed. Dodds hasn't had a single game.
lookwhaticando Posted 4 January 2007 Posted 4 January 2007 I reckon Josh Low is leaving in January... Bet you didn't see that one coming.

lookwhaticando Posted 4 January 2007 Posted 4 January 2007 11 to go. 10 in fact. Learn to count... By that I mean ignore Thracian's obvious hatred of Douglas. ;)
DB11 Posted 4 January 2007 Author Posted 4 January 2007 I heard Fulham might bid for Kisnorbo, they'll be watching on Saturday
lookwhaticando Posted 4 January 2007 Posted 4 January 2007 I heard Fulham might bid for Kisnorbo, they'll be watching on Saturday 10 million quid and they can have him.

Yep you're right there Thracian. Even I'm one of the few who believe McCarthy can be a liability for us!!!
lookwhaticando Posted 4 January 2007 Posted 4 January 2007 Yep you're right there Thracian. Even I'm one of the few who believe McCarthy can be a liability for us!!! One of 'the few'? Your numbers are faulty.

Ric Flair Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 I heard Fulham might bid for Kisnorbo, they'll be watching on Saturday Up against Vincenzo Montella, if he keeps him in his pocket then the bid will be in by monday for him. I have a fear, Montella will notch a hat-trick on his debut.
MC Prussian Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 10 in fact. Learn to count... By that I mean ignore Thracian's obvious hatred of Douglas. ;) You like Douglas??? The count still stands at eleven.
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 Fear not Ric, we have DC in our ranks now, they will be sh*tting bricks!!!!! Good bit of business yesterday by Kelly. With Tiatto and Johansson probably going in the summer, if we move on Douglas, Sylla, Johnson, and O'Grady. and add five or six quality players we could be in decent shape for a push next season?! Just purely for argument sake, imagine: GK. Hoult RB. Stearman CB. Kisnorbo CB. McCarthy/McAuley LB. Samuel RM. Hendrie CM. Commons CM. Williams LM. Capaldi/Porter CF. Hume CF. Todorov and a second string of: GK. Henderson/Logan RB. Maybury CB. Kenton CB. McCarthy/McAuley LB. Sheehan RM. Cadermarteri CM. Hughes CM. Wesolowski LM. Capaldi/Porter CF. Fryatt CF. Hammond/Dodds Plus the youth lads, the future could be bright as one sh*te telephone company say!!!!

FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 The other thing about Montella and the majority of Italian footballers is they look cool as fcuk! They always have sh*t hot kits and look the bollox! Good looking c*nts! I too am cacking my pants at the prospect of facing the airplane!

Mind you Roma shirts are pretty nice, Fulhams may be a bit harder to pull off.
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 I spelt it Aeroplane originally but because of the bbc changed my spelling in edit!!!! I quite like fulhams kits this year. Think it would look the dogs knackers in royal blue! Oh what I would do to have a Leicester kit I could be proud of!!!! Even Macclesfield have got a nice kit!!!!! And they have cool names Paolo Maldini sounds alot cooler than Paul Malders for example!
Ric Flair Posted 5 January 2007 Posted 5 January 2007 Finally, someone else who is shitting it. McBride is no push-over either, I can see McCarthy coming off worst against him. He's an old fashioned battering ram and comes out of quite a number of games with black eyes due to launching himself in the box.
