SilverFox Posted 4 January 2005 Posted 4 January 2005 Without dodgy decisions there would be less to talk about, and we would be forced to give more time discussing dillusional posters!
MON Posted 4 January 2005 Author Posted 4 January 2005 Without dodgy decisions there would be less to talk about, and we would be forced to give more time discussing dillusional posters! 51883 you have made me laugh the most this evening. But surely they should be used for decisions like the one today. what if it was a relegation battle, or a fa cup final. champions league final.
Anish Posted 4 January 2005 Posted 4 January 2005 Yes without a doubt. Decisions like tonight just cannot go on any longer.

Nathan_Ellington_WAFC Posted 4 January 2005 Posted 4 January 2005 no, mon i asked you, not everyone but you stop trying to be clever, it isnt working lad
MON Posted 4 January 2005 Author Posted 4 January 2005 no, moni asked you, not everyone but you stop trying to be clever, it isnt working lad 51909 Firstly a lot of dubious decisions have been given. The prime highlight was today at old trafford, would it hurt to put a camera in the net? And in an extreme case save a club from undeserved relegation? Give them justice. Secondly, all the divers and cheats of the ame would be punished. People like Dennis wise, Di-canio, Robert Pires. Two of these incidents cost a club a match. These were the latter two. Charlton against Leicester, last gasp dive by dicanio. Leicester lose another lead. Dive my Pires, arsenal maintain unbeaten record against pompey. thirdly, it would put a lot less strain on the human, yes human referees who are expected to get every decision right.
natas Posted 4 January 2005 Posted 4 January 2005 Nah, It would ruin flow of matches I reckon, what they do need however is goal line sensors like they have in ice hockey in America.
dan_84 Posted 4 January 2005 Posted 4 January 2005 NO WAY.... The decisions that are made by Referees and linesmen are all part and parcel of our game and makes it what it is today. If they introduce all this technology not only will it slow down the game but it will also take away all the things that can cause talking points, such as disallowed goals, dubious penalties etc. I probably sound like a right boring old fart but im only 20 and really enjoy the game as it is now

It could happen to any team and we would be in uproar if it happened to us.
Cobbo Posted 4 January 2005 Posted 4 January 2005 Only bring it in for the goal line decisions. It would become to stop start ala American Football if we use it too much.

Id be annoyed yes!!! but like I said its all part and parcel of the game, and if you brought in the technology, we wouldnt be discussing this sort of thing. we'd be discussing things like how hot was your pukka pie at half time because the games will become that boring there will be nothing to talk about. You say that about being a spurs fan, and what if it happened to us, but what if it did happened against us with the use of the technolgy wouldnt you be equally annoyed?
Guest Posted 5 January 2005 Posted 5 January 2005 Swings and roundabouts, what goes around comes around. I know we never benefit often from refereeing decisions, but we have done, and isn't that what makes football what it is. What unites fans more than a sense of injustice? Take this away, and what do we have? Referees who feel vindicated, smug managers, players finding more sneakier ways of deceiving the officials and supporters. Keep videos out of the game, I say.
dhermon Posted 5 January 2005 Posted 5 January 2005 when things like this happen it makes the whole sport look bad for the top leauges yes goal line camera or......an extra lines man either way why not try these types of things out say in the old third div see how it go's maybe give the idea a bit of a tweeeeeek but it could be brought into the game
Bert Posted 5 January 2005 Posted 5 January 2005 NO, like many people have posted it would ruin what i imagine us people love doing most, etc talkin about how bad the ref was, was he offside?, was it a penalty?,was it a goal? this is all part of what makes football so exciting for us, so i say NO
davieG Posted 5 January 2005 Posted 5 January 2005 NO, like many people have posted it would ruin what i imagine us people love doing most, etc talkin about how bad the ref was, was he offside?, was it a penalty?,was it a goal? this is all part of what makes football so exciting for us, so i say NO 52034 Problem is that's pretty much all people do talk about now, you very rarely see conversations around how good a goal was, a save was, pass was, a dribble was etc. Now when I were a lad and first started going to the football referees hardly got a mention in fact nobody cared who they were they just weren't noticed. With the advent of TV replays coupled with better quality pitches and 100mph footy mistakes have increased and been magnified. I defy anyone to prove to me that it is humanly/physically possible to judge most offside situations. The best we can hope for is a 50/50 accuracy. Having said all that I would only advocate goal line technology and would suggest that the offside law is revised to give make it simpler and more clear cut i.e. if your in an offside position then you ARE interfering with play; this combined with the ‘offside area’ starting, across the pitch at the edge of the penalty area thus reducing the incidence of offsides. It's farcical that you can be offside virtually on the centre line, it does nothing but squeeze the playing area down.
Hullfox Posted 5 January 2005 Posted 5 January 2005 I say no. As Lisa said, it's swings and roundabouts. We've lost plenty of important games where video input may have made a difference (Chelsea FA Cup and Blackburn Play Off Final) but I just think that if youtake away all of the injustices, the game would be poorer for the lack of debate. I still don't think that Carroll allowed the ball to cross the line myself.
Wilson Posted 5 January 2005 Posted 5 January 2005 Also what would happen to teams in the lower leagues etc? They might not be able to afford all the technology.
Guest Posted 5 January 2005 Posted 5 January 2005 Also what would happen to teams in the lower leagues etc? They might not be able to afford all the technology. 52085 The same as rugby; those who can afford it have it, those that can't don't. The even more bizarre thing is, most, if not all teams, only have the benefit of video refs when the match is being televised.
filbertway Posted 5 January 2005 Posted 5 January 2005 I would like to see goal line camera's introduced. After a shot has gone in on goal play should be allowed to continue in case there is an advantage to the attacking team, as play is going on the fourth official could look at a replay and signal to the ref if it went in or not, when the ball goes out of play.
