Just Checking In

Hope you are all well.

I'm in Florida at present.. it's just coming up to 2pm and I've come in from the pool and I'm just checking my emails. Being in America seems to be affecting my grammar I just want to use long sentences with hardly any punctuation or anything like whatever.

Anyway, the weather here isn't all that great but I'm have a wonderful time. Have been left babysitting other people's kids at times but that and the weather are my only complaints... the hotel is absolutely wonderful and the bars stay open as long as I continue drinking.

Hope you've all had good Christmassii and wish you all the best for 2007.. personally speaking, it's going to be MY year.

Hi there TPH lol.. Glad you're having a good time  Shame about the weather but it's good to see it isn't stopping you using the pool. I know I'd much rather be out there than over here!

I'm in Orlando, staying at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel. Really good hotel...

I've been doing a fair amount of swimming, been to a car museum run by a famous drag racer at Ocala, been to Sea World, seen Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede show etc... it's been good.

I'm not fat yet but have taken to drinking American beers (well, it's all thats on offer really) and watching football (mainly college games). For NFL purposes, I've chosen the Steelers (I like their logo - shallow huh?)

Probably going to Kennedy Space Center tomorrow. Don't really fancy it though.. might drop out. Having said that, I did that today and find myself a little bit bored.

You should go Kennedy SC - or you'll be bored, watching Yankball and getting fat. ;)

:welcome:

No you should go to that it's well worth it. Well it was 20 odd years ago when I was there.

I'm sure it's even better now!

You can always hit the surf in Cocoa Beach.

You can't help but love Florida no matter what the weather is, its one of my faverouite places in the world, have fun!

Anyone been to Kennedy?

Any good?

A few years ago, saw a shuttle take off! Very disappointing! You're so far away it's like watching a firework rocket go off...

Some of the exhibits were quite interesting in the actual space centre though

Florida is a nice place to visit, but not so nice to live there. Its great at first, but after a while, waking up at 3am sweating your nuts off even though the AC is on full kind of loses its appeal.

I much prefer Connecticut.

Any particular reason?

Any particular reason?

A number of reasons. Virtually everything in Florida was built in the last 30 years, so its a fairly empty place character wise. CT is so much more like home, hence it being called New England obviously, its a much more ambient place to live, plus the weather actually changes depending on the season, yet it still gets just as hot as Florida in the summer.

I also love the fact that I can hop on a train and be in New York in 90 minutes, or Boston in 2 hours.

TPH - How good is seaworld??

i went there in june aswell, only there was a thunder storm and the 'samu'(that's the big whale) was called off.

I used to live in White Plains so I had the beaches of CT 30 minutes in one direction and NYC 30 minutes in the other direction.

I used to love it and can't for the life of me remember why I choose to leave

Oh thats it summer was over and I got out before the frost came

And two bloody good reasons! Only ever been to those places (well, we did go to Salem for the day, so it's really three...). I would love to go back.

I've been bitten by something... but then again, I'm always getting bitten by insects. They must like the taste of my blood or something.

Seaworld was ace, although we did 2 days there which on reflection was overkill. It stormed the second day we were there and a lot was cancelled. Seaworld is great though, highly recommended. Pay the extra though for the VIP tour, I got to play with penguins, feed the dolphins, feed the stingrays etc etc which many people just don't get to do. I also had a very attractive guide who knew so much stuff and it was a really interesting day.

I'm coming home tomorrow so today is the last day here. Weather is pretty good today so I'll be going out to the pool in a moment I think.
