Flynny Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Nigel Worthington. He's not great, but Norwich seemed to be attempting to play attractive football when they went up instead of forming a wall on the goalmouth like most teams. Might be a bit more entertaining, at least.
Leicester's 12th Man Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 That's it then! Never again! What's that? Alex Ferguson, you say? Walter Smith? William f**king Wallace? Nope, they can all f**k off cos one of the Proclaimers managed us and he was f**king rubbish, therefore they all must be a bunch of know-nothing cretins. Because they'd come to us you donkey Levein and McCleish are both the same type of manager in Scotland, try something different or keep Rob
BartonFox Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 We went Scottish before and it didn't work ... Piss off you blinkered gobbler. McLintock - disaster Wallace - hero Levein - didn't work (although with each passing week I think Kelly was the real problem and had he and the other 2 been left to it we might have been ok) Next Scotsman - hero a la Wallace?????? Who knows, but thankfully you'll have f'ck all say in it.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Because they'd come to us you donkey Levein and McCleish are both the same type of manager in Scotland, try something different or keep Rob What, Scottish you mean? We shouldn't be in with a chance of getting someone with McLeish's record. How many managers who got a fairly pisspoor team by European standards to the knockout stages of the Champions League two years ago do you think we have the chance of having exactly?

Not even Brian Clough R.I.P could get us to Europe with the squad we have. We also have no money meaning that it couldn't be improved.
BartonFox Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Because they'd come to us you donkey Levein and McCleish are both the same type of manager in Scotland, try something different or keep Rob You must be related t lcfc4prem as you both know nothing about the game.
BartonFox Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Not even Brian Clough R.I.P could get us to Europe with the squad we have. We also have no money meaning that it couldn't be improved. Who is asking for that? Jesus f'ckn Christ, we've got them all out tonight.
Flynny Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Not even Brian Clough R.I.P could get us to Europe with the squad we have. Having a mostly decomposed corpse as a manager would be a handicap, to be fair. Probably do better than Kelly, mind.
Milky Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 can we really afford to buy a new manager and backroom staff, plus pay off the current lot.
BartonFox Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 can we really afford to buy a new manager and backroom staff, plus pay off the current lot. Can we afford not to?
lookwhaticando Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 can we really afford to buy a new manager and backroom staff, plus pay off the current lot. Not without Mandaric's (borrowed) millions.
Thracian Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Piss off you blinkered gobbler. Who knows, but thankfully you'll have f'ck all say in it. Gillies....then you'd be talking. And lots of Scottish players too as I recall. Like wee Davie Gibson who was better than all our midfielders put together in an attacking sense. And not just a bit better. Totally different class.
lcfc_jme Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Kelly Out thread in disguise Seriously though, January could be similar to how November was for us, especially after watching todays performance. When we are again staring relegation in the face, Kelly will somehow manage to pull results out of the bag. However, when we have a great chance to pick up points and climb the league (as we did after the Cardiff game), Kelly seems to go backwards and allow the performances to go from OK to completely fooking pathetic. Not to worry, February will see us pick up quite a few points - we should be firmly back in a relegation battle by then. And if you couldn't tell, I'm not a big fan of Rob Kelly.
Thracian Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 I'd take the lot over Kelly. Like it or not McLeish is an option. I don't like it.
BartonFox Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 I don't like it. I know that, but you'll have to deal with it.
Ultra Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 I'd take the lot over Kelly. Like it or not McLeish is an option. He too would fail, for the same reasons Levein did. Not even this board would be dumb enough to appoint a THIRD successive manager with no experience of managing in English football.
BartonFox Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 He too would fail, for the same reasons Levein did. Not even this board would be dumb enough to appoint a THIRD successive manager with no experience of managing in English football. What he'd have Kelly as an assistant too? Mandaric is a huge fan of McLeish and he has won trophies in Scotland (like Martin O'Neill did) and he progressed to the latter stages of the Champions League. I am sure he'd struggle to adapt
Simi Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Happened last season when Levein was sacked, they started playing for him so why does this change? Any change make people wake up and see what will happen at first. Evidently time has moved on and we are back where we were with Levien. So the players lose faith that this current manager can take them anywhere higher up the table. We need a manager that will happily play attacking football and when we are behind throw attackers on and push for a goal. As alot of other people have said. If I am not mistaken Mike Stowell is not an attacking coach so to see him giving out advice to them today for me just summed up that there is alot of confusion as to who should be doing what.

There are plenty of more suitable managers than McLeish available to us.
Matt Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 As I said in another thread we have been shite since MON leaving/Peter Taylor starting we have had 4/5 managers (I think) since then and each manager has had different squads pretty much so changing managment or players doesn't work so ask yourself the question...WTF has got to change, for some reason and don't ask me how this affects the way we play but I have it my head even that is down to the board?!

If I am not mistaken Mike Stowell is not an attacking coach so to see him giving out advice to them today for me just summed up that there is alot of confusion as to who should be doing what. Steve Beaglehole would try to attack before we got a goal down - but despite being top of his League and despite his previous success here and elsewhere, despite his probably having as good a knowledge of young players as anyone in the land - his wouldn't be a fashionable name to put forward. We'd probably rather have a bigger name who's recently been sacked. Why I wonder. If Mandaric's putting money in and we get some decent players all it needs is for an attack-minded manager to make them play. And from what I've seen, win or lose, Beaglehole gets his players performing with imagination, passion and self-belief. I'm 100% certain there'd be none of the fear that so characterises Kelly's teams and none of the bizarre team selections either. Sometimes Beaglehole has to make changes but generally you know exactly who he'll play. A bit like Keano's team today really. Win the ball, break at speed, use full width and get numbers into the box. Ah well. It's just a dream.... In fact any attacking manager is just a dream!.
Flynny Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Managing kids and managing full-time adult professionals is rather different. and so's the standard of football played. As for 'top of his league', we might as well get Dag & Red's manager by that logic. He'd be way out of his depth.

Do you think the Sheffield Wednesday board worried that McAuley bloke being unable to turn the clubs fortunes around when things couldn't get much worse? They took the risk and it paid off, perhaps we should have made a similar decision in the Summer instead of sticking with mediocrity. Anyway, the discussion in pointless because Steve Beaglehole won't get a chance to sort this mess of the team out what with the takeover situation. Only if it falls through will there be any slight chance when the board are forced to make a decision.

What reason would they have had for doing that at the time?
