Hondas have incredibly reliable engines, If you want trouble free motoring, a Honda or Toyota will not only give you trouble free motoring but will maintain their value for resale. .

Ive got an escort too, good cars. Unfortunately it is currently off the road. Lent it to my elder brother for a few weeks. On the way back(M1, Xmas Eve) the clutch suddenly ceased to work. He had to pay £200 callout and tow back to St Albans, as a non AA member. And got quoted £200 for a new clutch. Ouch

Loving the public transport. You cant beat the 118

Polo's are the way to go

2 members of my family have had Fiats and they've been more trouble than other cars we've had. The Clio was reliable and my sister's getting another one (getting rid of a Fiat to get it  )

Cisono, to be fair, my favourite car ever is a Fiat Couple 20V Turbo so I can't really argue. However...I don't own one as my old flatmate had one and he spent shed loads getting it fixed and ages waiting for parts from Italy.

Good point about getting a fairly 'common' car e.g. Fords, cos parts are cheaper, more quickly sourced and easy to get sorted.

I'm looking up towards a Golf too!

Sadly you are wrong and clearly havent taken the advice (a lot of it good) on here....

good luck, you probably may well be ok, just take care who you buy it from and check it out properly.

Some of these look good!

I've decided to keep my current car for the time being.

It failed its MOT today, but my mechanic reckons it should be only 250 pounds or so to make it roadworthy... :o
