act smiley Posted 14 January 2007 Posted 14 January 2007 Its all about the Rover 214. The pinnacle of british engineering and cheap due to bad reputation for nowt (well, head gaskets do go, but they aren't quite made of cheese). Bargaintastic, plus rather a lot nicer than a Corsa.
lookwhaticando Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 sent a message joeb, Mark (as in soccer AM Mark ) is selling his peugeot 106 1.1i) nice little 'starter' car. Insurance for you 'new' drivers is a pain , but unfortunately, on this occassion , TPH cannot help . (or can he ?? ) Well, he can insure your car against being hijacked, blown-up or otherwise destroyed by terrorists.

Speak for yourself, padre! It's all about the 600 (620 and 623 preferred). If you can stretch the budget a little, you can get a Ti like this one.
SystonFox Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 citroen saxo VTR - you can pick a decent one for £1500 (mk 1) with insurance about £1200 i'd guess with admiral or bell. good handling ok looks very good speed alloys as standard leccy windows comfy seats
Daggers Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 It's been proven by research that cars suck arse - get something better...
cisono Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 I'm suprised you didn't notice the "sir" I did... still, was he calling me a man then?
The People's Hero Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 Insurance for you 'new' drivers is a pain , but unfortunately, on this occassion , TPH cannot help . (or can he ?? ) I don't write motor insurance, I'm afraid.
Janx Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 I don't write motor insurance, I'm afraid. you just did! Wa wa wa waaaaaaaaa!
Ryanside Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 If you specifically after a small car then i would continue to look at the clios/106's etc. My first motor was 1.8 Vauxhall Cav, good for motorway driving and you dont have to get out of your seat to let peopel in and out of the back. The other good things about looknig at Cav's/Mondeo's, all the parts are so generic now you wont get rinsed for parts and if you do need some small bits u can always nip down to a scrappy and have a gander, always lots of them about.
James. Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 i would suggest trying the website below. if there is nothing that takes your fancy the owners do have a lot of contacts and are happy to try and find the car you're looking for. they have a very good reputation in the local area. Birstall Car Sales
act smiley Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 Rover 600Ti mmmm lovely, I can just imagine sitting in there with a flat cap . £3500 though, I guess cause it has a ridiculously small mileage? Would have thought they'd be about £2000 odd considering how cheap the non-turbo ones are. citroen saxo VTR Pffft, pre-facelift ones aren't that quick - the VTSes are though, but silly money. Nice though, but I doubt there's more than about 3 in the country that haven't been trashed yet.

Nice though, but I doubt there's more than about 3 in the country that haven't been trashed yet. I looked at a lot of saxos. The VTRs aren't too shabby, especially the newer ones. I just couldn't get on with the driving position though. Also, inside they are positively ugly compared with my current car.

Clearly had just the one very careful owner. That particular car is the most expensive 600 on autotrader.
Janx Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 Forget crap cars... buy German or Japanese... END OF!! Older is fine, just get the lower mileage... eg. Toyota Yaris, VW Polo or Lupo, Honda Spit or whatever the small ones are.... Look for FSH or Full Dealer History Ideally, low number of owners and NO MODS!!! (not moderators...moderations!) You should be able to get a decent low insurance grp for less than 3k.
Daggers Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 Bike rider - cool and loved by all women Car driver - potential prostitute murderer
Wils Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 Joeb with that airport wage of yours you can only afford 3,000. Disgrace. Get a clio, there for cool people.
JadeFalcon Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 i have an escort LX M plate 1.6 zetec its a good car u can buy them cheap and if u have the bottle you can do repairs yourself and cause they are an english car you can find parts literally everywhere and cheap aswell had to do wishbones on it garage were going to charge £50 per wishbone and then labour ontop .... did it myself bought the bones off of ebay for £19 each for auctions try measham car market also something to watch out for is low mileage .... cars like to be run temperatures as the combustion process creates acids inside the car and needs to run to temp to get rid of these otherwise you can corrode your pistons and/or piston rings, so its not always best for a low mileage car as you have to think a 1 mile trip is not enough to do it, you just think this 1-2 mile journey over the space of 6+years .... not good for the car try looking for something on the clock in the range of 40-50K its been run atleast and not run through the floor <-- depending on age of the car vary the mileage go for like 6000-9000 per year
The People's Hero Posted 15 January 2007 Posted 15 January 2007 I think you'll find that pepper red MkV Fiesta ghias are the car of choice amongst the more discerning wankers of the world.

I'm not sure if you're already aware, but Sanjay from Eastenders claims it's his 3rd most favourite car of all time, on his website. That's a priceless piece of advertising if ever I saw one.
