Lineker's Left Foot Posted 12 February 2007 Share Posted 12 February 2007 When all is down and lost with his first team place 'hanging by a thread', he always does the unlikely thing and scores !!! Sounds like the opposite of Matty Fryatt IMHO
Webbo Posted 12 February 2007 Share Posted 12 February 2007 Dodds has only got no experience because we keep picking out of form strikers. And Fryatt's record at Walsall doesn't look nearly so good when you take the penalties out and considing it was also another level down. Just tell me what he does so well as a striker? Piledriver shot? Brilliant header?. Goals from anywhere? Blistering pace and eye for the target? Lethal in-the-box predator? I just haven't seen it. He made a decent start for us but I said then that he'd struggle when people got used to his style of play because he doesn't have much in the way of "extras". His whole focus this season should have been on being razor sharp and working on the many ordinary aspects of his game. i always think of fryatt and hume as a poor mans lineker and beardsly. unfortunately they've both been affected by injuries, lost of form and poor supply. they'll both come good, at this level at least. Head Honcho Posted 12 February 2007 Share Posted 12 February 2007 Fryatt is still only 20 years old and has scored more goals for Leicester than Elvis has managed in his career aged 26 (amazingly he has scored 6 goals in 75 games). Fryatt has potential, Elvis hasnt IMO. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we buy Fryatt to score goals now? We aren't in a position to buy players hoping to sell them on at a profit in a few years time when/if they develop.
Thracian Posted 12 February 2007 Share Posted 12 February 2007 I'd still like to see two specialist centre-forwards Horsfield and Dodds in there with Hume/Hammond supporting right side and King, Jarrett and Porter in midfield. I don't see either Hammond or Hume as genuine centre-forwards. But they are bloody good support players when we need to cause havoc and perhaps reinforce the attack. The People's Hero Posted 12 February 2007 Share Posted 12 February 2007 Fryatt has been dissappointing this season. Elvis has always been sh it and always will be. Whether he tries 1%, 10% or 100% is irrelevant because he's not up to it.
