hairy Posted 15 February 2007 Posted 15 February 2007 Irish Folk Ska sounds like a bizarre but possibly interesting combination True interesting. Infact they sound very much like The Men They Couldn't Hang. Not a lot of ska. But they do sing a song call Pirates Life http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...iendid=47915601
Finnegan Posted 15 February 2007 Posted 15 February 2007 Sounded fooking brilliant, until he opened his mouth. I'll stick to the Tossers.
Guest Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 I want to see The Beat and The Specials in April.
Daggers Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 I want to see The Beat and The Specials in April. I The Beat. I stood about seven foot from Saxa this summer, separated by a big fence...and just stood staring. I've had a sax in the cupboard ever since the 80's hoping to play like him...one day I'll take a lesson. I'm beginning to think you have a quite outstanding grasp of music from the 80's and 90's, TP-T.

I'm beginning to think you have a quite outstanding grasp of music from the 80's and 90's, TP-T. Now now, less of the T-PT.I remember music from around 1976 onwards (I have a good memory, please bear that in mind...). My dad used to let me stay up and watch the Old Grey Whistle Test, and so my tastes (for a small) were pretty cool. I can remember discos, where I would refuse to dance just because it wasn't the Sham 69. I would have been 4 or 5. As for The Beat, Mirror in the Bathroom is on my all time top list. I used to luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurve it! And Dave Wakeling was left handed.
Wycombe Fox Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 Saw The Beat in Ryde on the Isle of Wight in August 2005. After the gig me, Mrs Isle of Wight Fox and her brother and his girlfriend went up to the dressing room and got invited in. We spent two hours drinking with them and 'smoking'. Afterwards Ranking Roger came back to our house for a drink and a dance. He brought a CD of his new music and left it with us as a gift. He stayed until 6.00 the next morning! Got a video of him, in my kitchen signing my original 'I Just Can't Stop It' album. I can still picture us all walking to my house, Ranking Roger with my wife on one side, brother's girlfiend on the other, skipping home singing Beat songs! F**king awesome! When we got home he phoned Neville Staples and put my wife on the phone for a chat!
Wycombe Fox Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 *speechless* *jealous as f*ck* And then there's Glen Matlock but that's another story and completely off topic
Unit Posted 17 February 2007 Posted 17 February 2007 I want to see The Beat and The Specials in April. here's a fact for you, my mother was friends with terry hall of the specials all through her school, apparently he was a quiet weirdo, and yes, if you've not worked it out, my mother hails from cov.
Daggers Posted 17 February 2007 Posted 17 February 2007 And then there's Glen Matlock but that's another story and completely off topic Mentioning him in this thread is like comparing Johnson with Socrates. Matlock - pah!
