dandannieldanok Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 After looking at other topics in the LCFC forum it seems that some want Stearman in and some are content with Maybury. I think a poll would be best to settle this one. For me Maybury seems a little safer in defence than Stears.
lcfc_jme Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 Based entirely on this season, I'd have to go with Maybury. I have slated him on here in the past for being wank, but if I knew nothing about LCFC and had to look at our right backs, I'd consider Maybury to be better than both Stears and Kenton.
lookwhaticando Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 <!--- Commence RK Style ---> Maybury for now at least. The back four has been steady and we've kept two clean sheets. Why change it just yet? <!--- RK Style Off --->
Thracian Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 It's hard to argue a case against Maybury. Successive clean sheets don't often come by accident and Maybury has looked focused, committed and proficient. Besides there's little doubt Stearman has been below his best this season. That's never been helped by Kelly messing him about so much but these things happen. My feeling is that Stearman's refocused now and all he can do is wait for his next chance and demonstrate, when it comes, the attacking skills which made him, with his defending, such a promising player. There is no doubt in my mind that Leicester have benefitted from a re-stabilised backline.
Daggers Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 Stearman is an over-rated positionally-challenged idiot
Flynny Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 Maybury linked up too well with Yeates yesterday to risk a change.
Wils Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 If fit id have Kenton there but Maybury has been playing well and is probably better attacking than Kenton but he has pace which Alan lacks when defending.
Toby or not Toby Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 why change the back four when we have kept to clean sheets in a row. his job is to stop crosses and i think maybury did that well yesterday
Dames Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 I've always found Maybs to be a steady and decent right back. Though Stearman is our best RB, he has been off form and pretty poor in league games this season. Next season i'd like to see Stearman back there if he is still at the club.
Stuliasz Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 When fully fit I think Kenton is a very solid right back but Maybury has been a lot more solid lately.
dandannieldanok Posted 18 February 2007 Author Posted 18 February 2007 When fully fit I think Kenton is a very solid right back but Maybury has been a lot more solid lately. Perhaps too solid if you get my point, slow accelaration and slightly wavering concetration, for me he gave his position away at Hillsborough with a poor performance. Before that he was adequate.
Simi Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 As people have said Maybury has been playing a defence that hasn't concded. You wouldn't change a striker that is scoring so why change a defence that is not conceding. When Stearman is on his game he is a quality player but we have been waiting all season for him to find some form and he hasn't found it. Tp me it's obvious that Stearman wont be hear next year. Whenever I see him now he just doesn't look interested.
lookwhaticando Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 Kenton's not up to it. His 'amstrings are fecked, like. And now he's totally unfit for games. Mind you, so's Stearman I'd imagine. If we had a reserves team, we could easily cut and change positions like RB... but now the danger is we have to throw in an unfit Kenton or Stearman in the event that Maybury gets injured. I'm beginning to wonder if that's the logic behind Rob's mad substitutions. We've no games for the current second-string to play... so why not throw them on in the last 10 minutes just to keep them ticking over? (Think: Stearman). Hmmmmmmmish.
Toby or not Toby Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 talking of the reserves i hope with milan coming in we can set up a reserves side for next season, this would on the whole give us a fitter squad. i feel this has been our problem, every player that comes back from injury is unfit because they do not have reserve games to ease themselves back to match fitness. 1 freindly a month is not enough and these are not played at the speed a reserve game or a 1st team game is.
uncle_connolly Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 Happy with Maybury for now but I think there should be a new, better addition to this position in the future if we are thinking about promotion.

The foundation to set up a reserve league is there. The majority of the midlands teams want a reserve league so if the club wanted a resevre team it's there for the taking.
lildave3 Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 For now keep Maybs, but i'd say Stearman was the better overall right-back.
davieG Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 Stick with Maybury. Maybury is better defensively Stearman provides an extra fillip to the attack Kenton I've never really rated and I certainly don't think of him as pacey
dandannieldanok Posted 18 February 2007 Author Posted 18 February 2007 Happy with Maybury for now but I think there should be a new, better addition to this position in the future if we are thinking about promotion. I know this is totally irrelevant but I'm loving your sig Uncle C.
Guest Gist Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 I'd like to see Maybury stay there. He is playing well at the minute and it doesn't need changing.
Geo V Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 I wouldnt change a winning side but eventually I`d like to see Stearman develop and fulfill his potential. He reminds me a little of that RB Colchester sold on (Greg Halford). He is rough around the edges but I think he is a decent player who could become very good.
Bloomer Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 Maybury has earned his slot, no need to change it until it needs changing.
Wezleylowski Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 well i always say dont fix what aint broken and at the minute our back four certainly arent broken. And if it was then i would still choose maybury purely because of the fact he is clearly the best right back that we have on the books. Stearman is too lanky he needs to go to the gym or is going to get muscled off the ball every challenge, but he is a good player and hasnt reached his optimum level this season possibly too do with him being played at centre mid where he is crap. Kenton is rubbish as proven when he came back from injury in mid december i think maybury is stronger quicker and a more experienced than either of those two so until stears bulks out and stops being played at centre mid its maybury for me

potter3 Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 Maybury for now, but we need to keep playing Stearman to help him develope, but not anywhere other than CB or RB
