Dodds at Rochdale

Tongue firmly in cheek when I posted that today.

He did lay the ball off for a cross that led to a goal. lol

Obviously if we won 7-2 and Fryatt didn't score, no-one would be complaining. Apart from Thracian, maybe.

No doubt he was the one making the off the ball runs and taking defenders out of position for others to score. ;)

Oh, and that counts as an assist by the way.

Are you and Hullfox brothers. We could have a sweepstake for which one of you is the first to utter a single word of praise for any of our Academy players. It could be our longest running sweep' on record.

Oops, just seen the thread on this in GF&S. Oh well.

Dodds didn't win the penalty by the way.

BBC ball by ball said he did. Perhaps Gordon Brown wrote it and all was not as it seemed.

I wonder what is is about academy players that scares you people so much and what it is about City's continued dour indifference that so appeals to you all.

In case one or two of you haven't noticed we've signed none of the superstars some have been listing so randomly on rumours thread so our choice of alternatives now is pretty limited.

And however much you try to gloss over it Dodds has now made five appearances for a team that hasn't lost once and which appears to be scoring a few goals and racing up the table.

Mind you with all this attacking football they're serving up they'll have to be capable about getting caught on the rebound!

Well I watched it on The Championship and Dodds and his mullet were clearly standing 10 yards away when one of the Rochdale players went over their keeper.

I've got absolutely nothing against Academy players whatsoever (I just made the post in here about Dodds to wind you up) and I'd definitely give King and Dodds a game. I just don't mention it in every other post I make.

I'd feel a lot happier about being wound up if Leicester's management were showing any signs of coming to their senses regarding our football team.

But they're not. And Mandaric doesn't seem to be having any positive effect either with his demand for "experience" and his apparent lack of demand for a change to the shit being served up in the name of Rob Kelly.

And when I see prolific scorers of ours helping Rochdale make the headlines for various reasons like seven goals and a rare sequence of success - I get well pissed up at the prospect of watching Horsfield and company continue on their usual frustrating way.

Most people would agree that King, Dodds etc are promising players. I'd say you'd also find sympathy for the view that they should be introduce to the 1st team at some level to have a look at them.

What doesn't help your case is the hyperbole you use, it doesn't help your argument or the players themselves. You are also incredibly defensive... above all this, you state things as fact which simply aren't true and have done on a number of occasions.

Examples being...

Dodds won the penalty

Elvis most assists this year

Elvis isn't sh it.

Etc.

It seemed perfectly reasonable to quote the BBC as a source on Saturday - anyone can be wise and slide-rule accurate when they've got a filmed recording to look at 24 hours later.

As to the reference to Elvis I'm certainly not going to delve into long-past quotes but Elvis remains a player who has contributed more goals/assists than all but Hume and, perhaps, Porter this season and shit is a comparative term in describing footballers and, compared with so much of his competition at City this season, Elvis is not shit.

In fact if Fryatt or Horsfield, for example, had contributed as much we wouldn't still be in the mire.

Yeah but there's nothing I can do about it so I prefer to just have a laugh on here instead. Dodds should get a go in our first team. Opinion stated. Move on.

As for Mandaric, I don't think he's at all happy with the football on display recently and Kelly will go in the summer if it doesn't improve sharpish.

As long as we stay up I'd be well happy with a couple more Palace aways or QPR at homes this season. I'm not bothering with going until next season now as the players appear to have given up and any more ammunition for Mandaric to use in his reason to sack Kelly in the summer is just dandy.

I don't want to wait til the summer to start rebuilding our club. There is so much we need to do and to find out now. And your feelings about attending the matches indicate really. There is just an air of indifference about the place at the moment after all the optimism of MM's arrival and that cannot be healthy.

yes, but you were so damn sure (even though you hadn't seen the incident) so sure, in fact, that you saw fit to dismiss other peoples sources which said he didn't win the penalty.

anywho, it would be nice to see the club change direction. milan may be waiting til the summer to sweep the place out with a brand new broom, who knows? you? me? anyone else on here? no.

If Mandaric and his cronies spend the rest of the season scouting players for next season and making sure they get it right, thus making the most out of the prime reason for our delight at his investment, then that'll do for me. Couldn't care less what Kelly churns out for the rest of the season now.

There might have been a feelgood factor about the place when Mandaric took over but it just highlights Kelly and the players' shortcomings that they couldn't capitalise on that for any prolonged period of time. The real reason for our optimism is investment in the playing staff and the chance of luring a decent manager for this level, the first of which can't happen now and the second of which we have a better chance of getting right in the summer.

I didn't dismiss anyone's alternative sources. Simply mentioned where I'd sourced my comment. It isn't the first time the BBC have been wrong this season but I'm sure they too would be more accurate given the benefit of being able to study the playbacks.

Sounds dismissive to me.

It didn't sound as if the Rochdale guy on the fans site had the faintest idea who was fouled.

:D It's not the players people are having a go at, it's your insistance to call for them to play every other breath.

We all would love for any one of them to get a chance if they are good enough. But with players like Dodds he has been here under 3 managers and none have given him a chance. When he has played for lower league teams he has hardly stood out has he. It must say something surely!!

Don't come that Babylon. I have never known a club where so many people are so clearly against elevating young players because they would rather trust to experience.

Have a look through some of the player ratings from certain people. Even people like Porter who has provenly been one one of our most effective players this season rarely gets above an insulting makr from some people.

Dodds has not ready for senior football until this season so has been under one manager that matters and no-one would ask for his inclusion if we had proven andfit goalscorer as partner for Hume but we've not and because of it we're in a second fight against relegation.

I'm well aware of the wind-up merchants on this subject but let no-one try to suddenly pretend the real critics are actually in favour of bringing these people in. Like I say, there's barely been one word of encouragement. There would never be a right moment for them anymore than there would be a right time to attack for some people.

Proven?

How?

There is no proof!

YOUR opinion!

He's been one of the better players but he's had some REALLY poor games.

You always give him high ratings or scapegoat other players on the rare occasion you admit he's been poor.

This is what you don't understand about opinions... you give your opinion and then assume it is fact or proven to be true.

Examples are saying that Porter is provenly one of the best players for us this year or stating that Elvis Hammond has the most assists when I'm certain that other people's opinions AND official statistics disagree!

Get the official statistics by all means.

I've no doubt whatsoever that Porter will prove to have been one of our most effective players, by their yardstick or mine.

As for being my opinion (that it's proven) of course it's my opinion.

That's why its got my name alongside.

Yes. It's your opinion.

It's not proven and to present it as so merely casts doubt and question over the rest of your argument.

Spuriously claiming subjective opinion to be fact does not bode well in terms of putting together a cohesive and persuasive argument.
