Dodds at Rochdale

Recommended Posts

If a player scores 60+ goals in three seasons of reserve and youth team football and is then deemed only good enough for Rochdale, it begs the question:

What the **** is the point in us having either an academy, or (until recently) a reserve team?

It's good that Dodds has been sent out on loan again as he really isn't doing much here and definitely isn't going to get his chance this season. I'd say he was well and truly on his way out tbh. He didn't even get to come off the bench tonight though - unlucky. I hope he does do big things when given his chance somewhere though, if only to prove the doubters wrong.

Louis Dodds didn't come on and is still to make a apperance in the English football league :D

But the Cogster and Tommy Wright managed goals tonight. Get Thracian on!

I'd laugh if he told em to stick their loan tomorrow morning and returned to Leicester again.

What earthly good is another 90 minutes of sitting on his arse?

Is there some sort of conspiracy or does anyone intending to play for Rochdale need some special scientific degreee to understand what the hell they try to do?

So far as persevering with trainees is concerned it seems you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. I recall MON selecting Campbell and Wilson on a regular basis in important game when it was patently obvious they lacked the ability and the physical strength to play at that level. Martin must have seen something but neither of them cut it as pros

Oh stop being such a tart, he got there on Monday at the earliest. Give Keith Hill more than five minutes to look at him before he plays him ffs.

You'd laugh if he told them to stick their loan lol that'd probabley be the end of his non existant career. He's not Jesus Christ you know, he has no divine right to walk straight into Rochdales first XI, as I've told you they already have one very promising striker there.

If Kieth Hill has not "looked at him"" already then what the hell has he signed him for?

The bloke wasted three points for nothing and another 90 minutes of Dodds' time.

Reputation, recomendation, god knows. Dodds might I've only gone up to Rochdale on Tuesday so the management might of thought against throwing him on. There could be one of a hundred reasons for not playing him so I wouldn't spit your dummy just yet. I'm sure he'll get on the pitch on Saturday.

Rochdale won how have they wasted three points.

In any case, Poor Louis having 90 minutes of his time wasted  . I'll admit I was expecting him to get 10 minutes at least but if he doesn't oh well. Dodds has to fight for his place like everyone else I'm afraid, there are already good League Two strikers at Rochdale he has no divine right to walk into any team he likes just because he's scored a few goals at very shit level.

To be honest I was surprised he made it straight to the bench. Im sure he`ll get more minutes for them than he did for us but its just his luck that they won 2-0 and I think the strikers got a goal each?!

Correct.

No doubt Louis would of bagged 10 though.

We dont need luck anymore. With world class players like the Horse and Yeates, we surely are heading for the play-offs this season and then promotion, and following it up with a surprise Premiership win next season. I just hope that Steve Gerrard doesnt beg RK that he wants to join us again as its getting a little embarrasing!:D

Just like at Leicester he can't fight for a place if he's never on the pitch.

I'm beginning to think Dodds best chance of a game would be to buy his own club.

That's ridiculous, players fight for their place in training. Something they do far more often than play an actual match. If players can only fight for their place on the pitch then you would have 30 a side matches, which might give you the entertaining football you crave, but sadly it wouldn't be allowed.

lol

Agreed.

Talk about a broken record. Jesus it actually makes me angry now reading post after post of youth team brown-nosing.

Thracian, have you ever considered for a second that these players might not actually be ready for first team Championship football?

Porter has got his chance, I'm sure he fought for it like every other player. I personally think he is overrated - weak in possession, poor touch, lacks strength and fades in and out of games. There's only so much you can blame the players around him, he needs to be able to make things happen.

I would love to see Dodds play for the first team, there's no question that he scores a lot of goals but there HAS to be good reasons why we ship him out on loan. He obviously isn't ready.

I hope he gets a game by the end of the season (for Leicester). The ideal time will be when we are mathematially safe from relegation and as such there is no risk from giving him his chance. That said, if there are other players fighting harder for their place, and with more potential, then I would rather see them first...

15 mins is not enough for the lad. I think its pointless sending a player out on loan unless he is almost promised some game time. 15 mins in two games is hardly worth the deal.
