Bert Posted 25 March 2007 Posted 25 March 2007 Typical lving in the past. Look to the future matey. I bet we get further than you do in Euro 2008.
Stevosevic Posted 25 March 2007 Posted 25 March 2007 Well the last time you played Northern Ireland you lost and the last time you played Scotland you lost Not as good or as big as you might think you are which nation has qualified for every major tournament since 1996? E Northern Ireland - havnt qualified for any Wales - havnt qualified for any Scotland - 96 + 98 Rep. of Ireland - 02 England - 96,98,00,02,04,06 record speaks for itself
Finnegan Posted 25 March 2007 Posted 25 March 2007 Well the last time you played Northern Ireland you lost and the last time you played Scotland you lost Not as good or as big as you might think you are Oh we're playing this logic, are we? Good God. I actually have something to shout about for once. Thanks Bart Fox. Remember this? Earnie's gonna getcha! Earnie's gonna getcha! What was it, two nil wasn't it? Oh no, no, no. That's right it was three nil. Oh shit, no, no it wasn't. Wasn't it FOUR nil? Yeah. Yeah that's right. You know. [ / complete child]
Geo V Posted 26 March 2007 Posted 26 March 2007 Come on Scotland. They typify everything that we are not as a footballing nation. They are always backed by there loyal fans (who make 3 times the noise that we do BTW) and there managers, with maybe the exception of Bertie Vogts have usually managed to get the best out of the players despite there usually inferioir ability. There isnt one Scotsman that would get into our squad never mind our team but still they show pride in performance and have managed some amazing results over the years. Its a shame that we cant have some of there genuine spirit because we have the ability but dont know what to do with it and actually dont look like we care. I am a big fan and will be cheering them on to get something in Italy and hopefully progress into the next stage.
Finnegan Posted 26 March 2007 Posted 26 March 2007 There isnt one Scotsman that would get into our squad never mind our team Er. I'd have Craig Gordon and Kenny Miller in a UK team ahead of their English equivalents. Think Boyd'd get in my squad n'all. Whatever happened to Shaun Maloney? He was the next-big-thing a season or two back.

Whatever happened to Shaun Maloney? He was the next-big-thing a season or two back. Craig Gordon seems like a decent keeper but not much beyond that. I know he has potential but he is still young to get into the side. As for Miller, he is a very average player who seems to excel at International level. He doesnt even look above Championship level when he played for Wolves but shone in a few games. Boyd wasnt even considered a starter for a poor Rangers side until recently and again he is a player who puches above his weight. If you looked at it from a Scotsmans point of view I`d bet they`d take Rooney and Johnson or Defoe upfront instead of Miller and Boyd.

You know. [ / complete child] The only 2 Scotland games I have ever walked out of were both in the Berti Vogts era. November 2003 in Amsterdam when we got humiliated 6-0 by Holland in the second leg of the Euro play-offs and then 3 months later in Cardiff in a game which was a whole lot worse. I think Mark Hughes put out the Flexsys Cefn Druids reserve team in the second half <_<

Craig Gordon is the best GK in Britian hands down, Ben Foster, Paul Robinson et al are not even close. When a Scotsman can brag about a keeper you know he is that good Kenny Miller and Kris Boyd have both scored at international level and in Europe, Andy Johnson hasn't and Jermaine Defoe doesn't. Kenny Miller has also bagged in the Premiership

Finnegan Posted 26 March 2007 Posted 26 March 2007 Haha. Was the best international I've been too, got a few Scots mates, loved it. Only problem was it was one of the few games I wasn't in the North stand for, was sat at the boring quiet end of the west stand. Plus, it was the first game since Russia, everyone was disenchanted and we only got about 40'000 in. Surprising, really, for an inter-British game, friendly or no. Scratch that, what am I on about? Wales 2 - 1 Italy in Cardiff was the best international I've been to.
BartonFox Posted 26 March 2007 Author Posted 26 March 2007 4-0 yes, but just look who's in goal... That was one of Rab's better nights in goal as well
act smiley Posted 26 March 2007 Posted 26 March 2007 Scratch that, what am I on about? Wales 2 - 1 Italy in Cardiff was the best international I've been to. Lucky you. The only international I've ever been to was a certain match involving Slovakia. Narh, even under Toshack we're better than N.I. I dunno, N.I. make the most of crap players, wheras Wales make nothing from mediocre ones. Either way there's not much in it, but at the moment I'd say N.I are better, although the previously mentioned trauma may be affecting things.
Finnegan Posted 26 March 2007 Posted 26 March 2007 Our last three matches with Northern Ireland: 1. The last time I can remember watching Savage play for Wales, we were two shocking goals down and were being absolutely slaughtered by the reff. Savage got sent off for simply getting to his feet? One of the worst reff'd games I've ever seen. We were all over them, battered them for 80 minutes, got two back and should have won. 2 - 2. 2. The return match of the above, watched it on TV. We went to Windsor Park and embarrassed them. Again, our sloppy back line let us down a bit and we let them make the score line suggest a far more even game than in reality was. Hartson missed a penalty while we were 2 - 0 up that would likely have turned the game into a riot, gutting. We won 3 - 2. 3. Toshack's reserve under 21s in hyper defense mode 0 - 0 Northern Ireland's first 11. If we took a fully fit side and played a fully fit N.I. side, on even form, we'd win. Easy. They're toss, even Toshack isn't bad enough to lose that one. I hope. Lucky you. The only international I've ever been to was a certain match involving Slovakia. I've managed to go to probably a good 80% of our home internationals in the last, oo, uhm, 4 years? 5 maybe? I remember watching Brazil come, that was one of my first. The Euro 04 qualifying campaign was the first year I had my debenture. Where are you from, mate?
act smiley Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 They're toss, even Toshack isn't bad enough to lose that one. I hope. I think he is Where are you from, mate? Shepshed. But I live in Cardiff these days, and my mum's side of the family is Welsh.
Finnegan Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 Haha. I'm undecided on him, really. Tactically he's inept, but his attitude towards the youth is genuinely helpful. That said, I'm sure the FAW could recruit any other manager and say, yknow, "part of your job is to break in the country's youth". I believe we'll be in a much stronger position come the 2010 qualifying, as says the masterplan. But I don't actually want him in charge when the time comes. Coleman with Saunders, that's my wish.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 On that North Stand thing Finners, which one is that? I was behind the goal in the end that backs onto Cardiff's rugby ground for the one Wales game I went to, just wondering whether that was the atmosphere part or not.
Finnegan Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 Aye that's the North Stand. You go to a big game and sit in there and it's pretty good. Obviously, a lot of our internationals are against Poland, Austria, etc and we still lose. Those games tend to have a shit atmosphere everywhere.
lildave3 Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 Not clapping now are ya Seriously though, unlucky.

Yeah I was unlucky to go to watch a defeat attached to a shambolic performance but the atmosphere still wasn't awful.
Mikey Posted 29 March 2007 Posted 29 March 2007 Well the last time you played Northern Ireland you lost and the last time you played Scotland you lost Not as good or as big as you might think you are Erm yeh nice major tournament in 1998

Tevez Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 haha, nice one. Looks like England and Scotland are on the same boat for this one.
Finnegan Posted 22 November 2007 Posted 22 November 2007 Sorry, what? We've got the Czech Republic and Germany in our group. YOU wouldn't get out of our group on your current form, let alone us. Now I don't mind admitting our football team is toss. I can even stomach admitting you're leagues ahead of us. But watch where you throw your stones, that's a very glacial house you're stood in.
