Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 March 2007 Posted 27 March 2007 Great board game. I'm now minus a submandibular gland on my right side. On the plus side, I'll be able to have curry and beer again in a couple of weeks' time. Still hurts like a bastard at the moment though. Cracking scar too. I love you all (codeine must still be having an effect).
Daggers Posted 27 March 2007 Posted 27 March 2007 You've had your saliva gland removed? Why? I never noticed you slobbering like a labrador sitting next to a steak... Oh - get well soon buddy boy
The People's Hero Posted 27 March 2007 Posted 27 March 2007 I'm impressed I even remembered to text. Go me! Seriously mate, wish you a speedy and comfortable recovery. Then a beer and curry is called for.
Nationwider Posted 27 March 2007 Posted 27 March 2007 Go Fez. Hope you have a quick recovery pal. The drugs do work so keep stocked up on painkillers until you can enjoy a glass or three of the good stuff again. As it's your hour of need, I'll manfully step into the breach and drink your alcohol quota for the next few days. It'll be a pleasure.
Alexikokopops Posted 27 March 2007 Posted 27 March 2007 Recover well and eat curry. 'kokopops' words of wisdom for the day. Oh yeah, and chicks dig scars.

Flynny Posted 27 March 2007 Posted 27 March 2007 Would 'why?' be too probing? Hope you're back doing whatever you do quickly, anyhow.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 28 March 2007 Author Posted 28 March 2007 Would 'why?' be too probing? Hope you're back doing whatever you do quickly, anyhow. My neck kept swelling up when I had big meals, particularly anything spicy. After about six months of appointments and scans etc, they finally found a tiny stone right at the bottom end of my right submandibular (salivary, as Dave says) gland. Normally they'd just take the stone out but it was too small and it was wedged in too far down so they just took out the whole gland. Basically the stone was blocking the saliva the gland was trying to produce, and you need more saliva for spicier foods. Had the problem for over two years now, have obviously drunk a lot of beer and ate a lot of curry in that time (amongst other foods and drinks that have caused the problem) but have never been able to really enjoy them. Also have been forced to watch Leicester this season stone-cold sober which has been a startling experience. How long have we been this bad for? And how long have we had a Welsh Tarzan in central midfield and Linford Christie's Cockney/Ghanaian nephew up front??

Forget you ever saw them.
Geo V Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 Good Luck fella although seeing the word "board game and operation" reminded me of some 80s advert on the game that used to drive me mad when some old witch would say "Can I have a go???". I need help.
Daggers Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 Stone-faced Fez? You should've had a pop at poker while you still had it....or become a black Blues singer from the Deep South (it shall rise again apparently). Did you get to keep it and turn it into a paperweight?

Nah I was too busy trying to chat up one of the nurses in Recovery. I mean, come on, how alluring is this?

Guest Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 Hope you get better soon. My advice is once the pain eases off, save some of your codiene for a "rainy" day.
The People's Hero Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 Anyone know where I can get my hands on some prescription 'happy' drugs?
