Joe. Posted 6 April 2007 Posted 6 April 2007 Tightly marked when we had possession neither of the f'ckers moved, no wonder Derby had it so easy.It wasn't until Fryatt appeared that we caused them any sort of mischief. I can't believe you didn't think Hume had a good game today. Well actually I can because it's you....
Milky Posted 6 April 2007 Posted 6 April 2007 At least Hume has some footballing ability. He shows flashes of skill, nice touches, and seems to have a good brain. The lad has potential, he's still young and his goal record at the club isn't all that bad.
BartonFox Posted 6 April 2007 Posted 6 April 2007 you get over the fact that we sacked a useless scotish **** and our current no 6 is another useless jock, hume is a good player and more often then not is our most likely goal scorer, i dont want him chasing around the pitch, cus thats to the detroment of the team as a whole as it leaves us with just 1 up front, hughes on the other hand has shown he's not upto it in he proper position and its only because he's bessie mates with kelly that rob seems to have a need to find a place for him, He like kelly, will be gone in the summer and the club will be better for it Ah another little bitter numpty then In case it has been too much for your pea sized brain, it will have failed to register that Hume is of Scottish descent Little Englanders, dont'cha just love them
BartonFox Posted 6 April 2007 Posted 6 April 2007 I can't believe you didn't think Hume had a good game today. Well actually I can because it's you.... Sorry Joe, I don't get taken in by someone running around a lot and making wrong decision after wrong decision. Just because the numbskulls scream "HHHHHHHHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEE" means f'ck all to me. For the money we spent he has been disappointing to be honest.

For the money we spent he has been disappointing to be honest. 66 (15) 22 goals considering our shit midfield, that isn't a nightmare signing. Strikers are expensive. This seasons top scorers in the championship. The vast majority of which cost more than hume. Chopra Cardiff 21 Cureton Colchester 20 Kamara West Brom 19 Rasiak Southampton 18 Earnshaw Norwich 17 Howard Derby 16 Iwelumo Colchester 16 Lee Ipswich 15 McSheffrey Birmingham 14 Nugent Preston 14 Phillips West Brom 13 Vine Birmingham 13 Hume Leicester 12 Jones Southampton 12 Connolly Sunderland 11
Jimmy Posted 6 April 2007 Posted 6 April 2007 Ah another little bitter numpty then In case it has been too much for your pea sized brain, it will have failed to register that Hume is of Scottish descent Little Englanders, dont'cha just love them actually i knew he was born in Scotland, the difference is Hume thinks of himself as Canadian and there for doesn't fall under the umbrella of your levein fantasies, its no coincidence that you never have anything but praise for the likes of maybury (that levein loved) and Hughes (the same) yet slate people like Hume (who had bust ups with levein) and Levi ( who levein dint even know existed)
Thracian Posted 6 April 2007 Posted 6 April 2007 Tightly marked when we had possession neither of the f'ckers moved, no wonder Derby had it so easy.It wasn't until Fryatt appeared that we caused them any sort of mischief. No question that Fryatt's movement made loads of difference. Porter's lack of movement in attack is down to one thing mainly. He's under instruction to provide width on the left. I've seen him moving and creating space in central midfield for the Reserves but he's wearing a straight-jacket in the first team and it's bloody ridiculous. He needs far more freedom. Especially when he's being marked into ineffectiveness. I keep reminding people that he's a central midfielder really, a guy whose passing gives people opportunities. That ability is being wasted.
lookwhaticando Posted 6 April 2007 Posted 6 April 2007 I think RK loves Maybury... that's why he's been slotted in all over the place - RB, LB, RM even where there's better options. I suspect he'll get thrust back into RM when Kelly gets tired of Hughes out there or the other wingers (who he seems to tire of easily). Maybury should definitely not play LB if Nissa is available... why he's playing there now, I don't know... but since we didn't lose today, I can forsee him remaining there for a little while yet. I'd put him back at RB - the position he had when we had a steady back four which didn't concede 10 goals every four games. Maybury, McAuley, Kisnorbo, Johannson That's the back four we need to reassemble - it's the way forward.
breadandcheese Posted 7 April 2007 Posted 7 April 2007 I agree with Barton. Thought Maybury was the best defender today. Offered nothing going forward but I'd rather he be solid defensively.
Geo V Posted 7 April 2007 Posted 7 April 2007 I thought he did OK yesterday. Some good interceptions and tackles but being right footed he would always cut in and lump the ball forward and give it away. It wasnt his worse performance but he offered nothing going forward.
andyh1884 Posted 7 April 2007 Posted 7 April 2007 Maybury had a much better game than last saturday but that's not really saying much. Made some good challenges, had a reasonable game. I'd agree he was our best defender. Kisnorbo, as captain & central defender, should be organising the defence a lot better, the marking when Derby came forward was shambolic, as bad as stoke last week. Only Maybury seemed capable of picking his man up. What puzzles me is how Kelly saw fit to put out the same defence as last week when the shipped 4 goals in comical style
The Stig Posted 7 April 2007 Posted 7 April 2007 Yes he does try hard and is a half decent DEFENDER, but when he comes forward to attack he's useless.
STUHILL Posted 7 April 2007 Posted 7 April 2007 The guy not only doesn't contribute anything to attack, he actually breaks up any kind of flowing football we want to play by gaining possession and just floating it long. Serioulsy we can be passing the ball nicely around the back and midfield, then the ball falls to Maybury....Oh and look up and hoof, up it goes and wow what a suprise we've lost possession!

When the f'ck have we ever passed the ball round nicely with that tool Kelly around?
Flynny Posted 7 April 2007 Posted 7 April 2007 Maybury is a good player for us when he plays at Right-back for a sustained run of games. Yesterday he looked decent but uncomfortable, but that's not really his fault when he's out of position. He still puts in a few silly tackles from time to time, but didn't concede anything dangerous. At left back he doesn't get forward as often or as effectively as he does at right-back, but again - not his fault.

To be entirely fair the same can be said of Kisnorbo at times, who's practically hero worshipped.
STUHILL Posted 7 April 2007 Posted 7 April 2007 When the f'ck have we ever passed the ball round nicely with that tool Kelly around? Yesterday we had a lot of the possession as we were holding onto the ball at the back and in the middle. Numerous occassions i saw a number of passes in the middle, then when it fell to Maybury, instead of keeping the momentum going, he would opt for a pointless longball forward!
STUHILL Posted 7 April 2007 Posted 7 April 2007 To be entirely fair the same can be said of Kisnorbo at times, who's practically hero worshipped. Yeh I agree but for a CB the emphasis is much more on defence, it is the full-backs who you want pushing forward and supporting your wingers. I agree Kisnorbo could be more composed and build the play from the back but for a CB in this division I think he does a very good job.

Right on both counts although I thought Kisnorbo's passing yesterday was a bit more constructive than usual.
Ric Flair Posted 10 April 2007 Posted 10 April 2007 Barton, I'm usually glad to read of your stuff on here but your Hume baiting is as ridiculous as any of the young in-mates on here's txt speak. Hume has proven himself at this level over the course of this season and last season. In a better team, I think he'll be very good at this level. I can't see us bringing in 20 new players next season so he is definitely one to keep. Whether he's good enough to play in the premeirship, remains to be seen. But you certainly have no qualms over Alan Maybury and Stephen Hughes because of their pedigree before they came here. But you refuse to take on board that crap players do sometimes play at a higher level and you bat off their mistakes with a Champions League/UEFA Cup sentence. I know those OPTA stats that each division do, don't always tell the whole story. But if they were complete and utter bollocks then they wouldn't be used at all. So my point is that Iain Hume is rated as the 22nd best player in this division this season covering all positions. So bearing in mind that 24 teams in this division have 20 odd players each, that means out of 480 players in this division. Hume has performed better than 458 of them on a consistent basis. In a team that's on course for relegation with a disgusting midfield for service. Ok, so your not one to be impressed by an all action striker like Hume, who does a lot of running. Some fans might be clouded by his non stop effort and miss the fact he's skied 3 shots over the bar and mis-placed several key passes, etc in matches. But I think his effort counts for something and it's not as if he hasn't got any talent. His goal scoring record at this level for a player who isn't an out and out striker is good, take in to account the service he get's and it's a good return. So he has his short falls, you've mentioned them. But a good manager and coach should be able to develop his weaknesses and turn him in to a very good player at this level. There won't be many defenders in this league that like playing against him, i've read that a few times from opposition when they play us. His finishing is getting better (far better than when he first arrived) his tackling for a striker is spot on, his passing is as good as any of our strikers in recent years. He is good in the air for his size and he'll drop deep and hold the ball up if need be. His one on one finishing is also one of his strong points, he's improved on that from last season. But just how many times has Kelly thought to try and utilise this asset? I'll give you a Maybury and Hughes if you raise me a Hume. Fair's fair.
sapalmer Posted 10 April 2007 Posted 10 April 2007 Ric my serbian friend - you have analysed Humey faultlessly as always. If we had more like him in terms of commitment and effort we would all not be facing a squeeky bum couple of weeks.
Nath Posted 10 April 2007 Posted 10 April 2007 Just been watching the plymouth highlights, Andi s it just me or is Maybury on the second goal, had no passion or commitment to even put in a half decent challenge, instead he just puts his foot out, when quite clearly, he could of hoofed the ball out the ground. Third goal was the same, again he just puts his foot out, no commitment to even have a heart and stretch for it.... Watch the highlights and see what you think....

Regardless of Maybury's ability or lack of ability. He doesn't want to be here. He is the biggest culprit of them all. He's proven that he has some ability, but won't use it because he's a fookin mercenry. I've got no time for players of his ilk.
