Flexx Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 How do managers do this? Do they just phone up the manager or fax the club or something?
Ric Flair Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 How do managers do this? Do they just phone up the manager or fax the club or something? Are you having a laugh?
lookwhaticando Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 Are you having a laugh? Bidding for players is no laughing matter. It's business!

dave Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 It was by fax when i worked at City, i saw the one go through from the club secretary's office for John Hartson for £3.5m.
Suffolk_fox Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 It was by fax when i worked at City, i saw the one go through from the club secretary's office for John Hartson for £3.5m. How many years ago was this?
blue blood Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 in our case we have 2 methods, 1 write a little message on a piece of paper attach it to a pigeons foot, and tell it to fly 2 put an offer for any player in a bottle seal the corked lid and chuck it into the river soar - then sit tight and see what retard washes up.
Ric Flair Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 yeah pretty much. How am i meant to know, i've never worked at a professional football club have i. I think they enquire by phone and then make an official bid by either fax or email.
blue blood Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 on a serious note i think its all done through agents
Zingari Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 on a serious note i think its all done through agents more likely in the gents
Master Fox Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 more likely in the gents All offers are written on the walls using faeces. ‘We Leicester City bid £250,000 for Elvis Hammond, do you accept our offer??’
Phube Posted 16 April 2007 Posted 16 April 2007 How many years ago was this? I'm sure Martin wanted Hartson... could have been then!!!
dave Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 How many years ago was this? It was a panic bid in Peter Taylors 2nd season when Hartson was at Cov, basically after his first season in charge when he signed all of the so called up and coming players who flopped dramatically the board told him him to sign more experianced players hence he signed Wise, walker etc... Interestingly enough the 2nd batch of upcoming players he was going to sign have done alright they included unknown quantities such as Crouch, Hayden Mullins and Bobby Zamora. When I was there I saw all sorts including board minutes and players salaries etc, but thats a different story!

PT for us in the summer?
Geo V Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 What a joke this transfer deadline is! As we are talking about bidding for players doesnt it make it a mockery that we cant try to bring in players simply because the FA/UEFA have decided to set deadlines. Fancy telling a company that they cant hire any more emplyeess before a certain date?! This could have huge consequences on a club like ours which has had its hands tied behind its back wuith regards to strengthening the team/squad (especially since MMs cash arrived ) and this type of scenario is one of the reasons why the deadline should be scrapped! (Excuse number one as to whose fault is it if we go down)
He's not bald Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 on a serious note i think its all done through agents No it's a web site called availableplayer.com..I think theres a showroom as well near East Mids Airport..Obviously Leicester will be searching the scrapyards in the summer to see if they can find some replacement bits for Horsefield and Douglas!

Dr The Singh Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 You guys think the clubs are a bunch of cowboys, we all know they do what the indians do and use smoke signals!!
Lichfieldfox. Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 Its done through 2 secret soccer on-line auction intranets named hasbeenbay.com and overpricedsoccatossa.com. the clubs settle up with paymypalabung.com and its all hunky-dorey
DB11 Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 2 put an offer for any player in a bottle seal the corked lid and chuck it into the river soar - then sit tight and see what retard washes up. I think we are doing that with the current players coming to City
