DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 Just been reading up on all the good stuff the Transport and General Workers' Union has been up to in the UK. I think their resolve is quite admirable in the wake of all the crap that's been thrown at them in recent times. We are facing a similar Thatcher-esque experience over here, with a tard-gone-wild in a Tory PM ramming through anti-worker legislation in an attempt to crush unions and reduce take home pay for workers. Labor has had a 58% 2PP poll prediction for the last few months as people aren't buying the 'economic argument' for these reforms. Here's to hoping they have a win and we don't have to go quite so far down the garden path as you guys had to.

AoWW Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 Pour vous, Phube. PS: That link is probably NSFW... certainly not if you've got your speakers turned on. Sh*t!!!! Completely missed the warning and nearly broadcast that to the bunch of Yr7's that were within earshot at the time!!!. Thankfully the 'unsuitable content' software blocked it... I can now understand why. Absolute classic though - love it. Quite catchy... bit worried I may end up humming it when I shouldn't.

Geo V Posted 23 April 2007 Posted 23 April 2007 A mate fo mine is in some union through working for the Postal service and he cracks me up at some of the regulations they have and that he monitors. Ie dont handle too much mail, weight limits for post in a bag etc. He reminds me of that lazy sod on the old Carry On film where they used to make toilets and would stop work for any excuse.
Rincewind Posted 24 April 2007 Posted 24 April 2007 Lets go back to good old days of sending kids down mines and working in factories with no breaks and unsanitory conditions. In the good old days bosses were bosses and workers were workers and the workers knew their place and were glad that the boss was kind enough to let them work for them.

Hehe, like the argument that unions are taking countries back to the dark ages, when in fact Tory economic policy is, quite literally, from the dark ages! Masters and Servants Act stuff, let's whip collective thinkers and deport them!

Masters and Servants Act stuff, let's whip collective thinkers and deport them! in some cases the unions seem to be from the Luddite age of no progress at any cost! new working practices? no thianks! we need 14 men to do 1 man's job
