The People's Hero Posted 30 April 2007 Posted 30 April 2007 Next year they probably need to consolidate. Having said that, I have been told that historically promoted teams do okay the next division up too, but we'll see. Massive achievement for them though - bring on the new ground.

They've always been able to attract some decent quality signings whenever they've move up a league, often getting people to come in from the league below, and it should be easier now that they'll have their own ground! It's gone a bit quiet mate. That was always the plan though and I haven't heard anything to the contrary. At least, that was what I thought. Might do a bit of research in to it. My housemate regularly speaks to the chairman and manager as he writes for the local rag, so I'll see what I can find out.

They didn't start work on the thing until January!

Well, yeah.. but a ground like they're building could be done in no time at all. I suppose though, they are doing it in the most economical way. It's going to be fairly similar-ish in terms of capacity to the part of Bourne Park they play at now. Anyway, should be ready for Maidstone's inevitable return to the Conf South!

They reckon when they move from Sittingbourne, their gates might increase by 50%. I'm not sure if it's true or if it's a figure plucked from the air or whatever but it's cheap to go, they are good to watch, they ordinarily win at home... We'll see. Ho-hum. But I would imagine that attendance would go up when they start playing in Maidstone. I mean, honestly, how many people are going to be willing to drive to Sittingbourne on a saturday afternoon to watch, what is frankly, quite poor football?
