Head Honcho Posted 8 May 2007 Share Posted 8 May 2007 Knowing Milans liking for a few foreigners. Who do you think we should take a look at? I'll start of with a striker: Paulinho Guará of Hammarby. Not Premiership class but I reckon he could do a decent job in the championship and he wouldn't cost that much. The Swedish season has just started so plenty of opportunity to find out if he's any good.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 8 May 2007 Share Posted 8 May 2007 I'll start by saying that if we're going to import foreigners they want to be quality - not jobsworths. F**k me, someone better tell Milan. To be honest I don't see how many people would be in a position to answer this question. I doubt we would be able to sign anyone who has genuinely impressed people on here watching them on TV playing in any of the top divisions in virtually any European country you could see more than one or two games of every season. It's going to be tricky to sift through the Football Manager suggestions and the unrealistic suggestions to find anything tangible.

dandannieldanok Posted 9 May 2007 Share Posted 9 May 2007 Markus Weissenberger - Midfielder (Eintracht Frankfurt) Mario Frick - Striker (Siena) I think both would be coups on the transfer front (although very much possible with a bit of persuasion), but I do seriously believe they would help us in areas we have struggled. Weissenberger is a very creative centre midfielder and Mario Frick is a reliable goalscorers when provided with opportunities.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 May 2007 Share Posted 9 May 2007 Kerlon Cruziero seal dribble Check my picture. The guys got amazing talent and potential but I think it's more likely that a big team in Italy, Spain, or even England will snap him up. I know that Man U were keen in buying him after Sir Alex scouted him at some youth tournament. If we want South American talent then we should go after Mauro Zarate, a young Argentinian striker that plays for Velez Sarsfield, but, again, not sure if he'd join us. Ozwin Posted 10 May 2007 Share Posted 10 May 2007 Never gonna happen. I doubt Leicester City is a team which most foreigners dream of playing for. Maybe in a few years we can go for the up and comers but now? No chance.

Maybe in a few years we can go for the up and comers but now? No chance. Which player/s are you referring to here? Because I can guarantee that there will be an influx of foreign players here in the next few years due to Milan Mandaric. Whether they are any good is another question. THEfox Posted 10 May 2007 Share Posted 10 May 2007 We should definitely get Manwell Delia! A talented yet outrageous midfield maestro who conducts the midfield with grace and passion. I hear his contract with the Harlem Globetrotters of Football is up soon so we would only have to contend with his $600,000 wages. But with the pound currently so strong I'm sure Milan will be able to afford it.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 11 May 2007 Share Posted 11 May 2007 I've not done my homework re this player so I expect to get shot-down in flames, but considering Milan is Serbian, could we make a 'cheeky' bid for Dejan Stankovic, now that he's coming to the end of his career or is he still at a top, high-profile club somewhere. This would be the equivalent to when Pompey obtained Preki and Prosinecki during the mid to late 90s!!

Geo V Posted 11 May 2007 Share Posted 11 May 2007 I was gonna suggested that we buy Any Juan, heard of him? Yeah he is quality, great skills and a Chinese International player. If we do get him maybe we can bring along his big brother, a quality target man. T Bigg Juan
act smiley Posted 12 May 2007 Share Posted 12 May 2007 Realistic but unlikely one, Andy Dorman from New England. Welsh box-to-box midfielder, looks fairly good. I think his contract runs out at the end of the year and he's on rubbish money so might be worth bringing in for nothing.

He's good, but when we could get the likes of Tim Krul on loan I don't see the point. Although re-reading this thread has made me notice this: when Pompey obtained Preki Potential manager?
