Scow Posted 3 February 2005 Posted 3 February 2005 Crewe manager Dario Gradi is well aware of the threat posed by Leicester's "little and large" strike duo of David Connolly and James Scowcroft.Gradi, whose side travel to The Walkers Stadium this weekend, checked out Craig Levein's side in their 2-1 FA Cup win at Reading and has a clear idea of how he wants to approach the game. That includes keeping a close eye on Connolly and Scowcroft and Gradi said: "It is always beneficial to watch future opposition in action rather than on video or by reading the report. "They have many good players, but Scowcroft is good in the air and has to be watched. He may not be the biggest but he is a fine leaper and is difficult to contain. "Connolly is your typical smaller centre-forward, very clever and good technically. It is a typical little and large partnership, but we dealt with them quite well earlier in the season. "Seeing them play at Reading has confirmed how I want us to play, and what my preferred line-up is going to be." Link - Teamtalk What a lethal partnership, eh? He's right about Connolly, but the Scowcroft comment made me laugh. He's been anything but that for about 2 months now, although he was better against Reading to be fair.
Louise Posted 3 February 2005 Posted 3 February 2005 The line under the picture makes me smile: 'Gradi: Knows the Foxes' strikeforce is a threat' He's about the only person then.
Mark Posted 3 February 2005 Posted 3 February 2005 He'd be right to be wary if it was De Vries and Connolly, but Scowcroft, come on now Dario i had a lot of respect for you
Collymore Posted 3 February 2005 Posted 3 February 2005 Gradi can't lose with his comments. If scowy and conners rip them apart then he will say I told you so, They are a massive threat. If they have a quiet game then Gradi will say, Told you so, I knew how to keep them quiet. Nice one Dario, Thats why youv'e been where you are so long
Ash Posted 3 February 2005 Posted 3 February 2005 Scowcroft is a thread in the air there's no too ways about it !

Steven Posted 3 February 2005 Posted 3 February 2005 You should always sweet talk the opposition before a game.
Guest Daniel Posted 3 February 2005 Posted 3 February 2005 Of course he offers the aerial ability upfront 62536[/snapback] ***Message to all people 6ft and above*** You could now be a dangerous professional footballer simply because you are tall. No skill needed.

Anish Posted 3 February 2005 Posted 3 February 2005 Hopefully Dario was so impressed by Scowy against Reading that he's going to put 2 defenders or more on him thus leaving more space for Connolly and the midfielders to push forward.

However, Scowcroft hasn't been strong enough in holding up the ball, therefore Connolly has not been able to take advantage of two defenders marking one striker.
