Gilbert the Filbert preview

Crewe preview

1. Taylor/Walker : Their kicking is still poor but their hands are OK.

2. Stewart: Quite simply he can’t play football but occasionally towards the end of a game, when everyone else is tired he can do something useful. Let him go, put him out of his misery, and ours! But who would have him?

3. Maybury: Quietly efficient as a defender – good going forward.

4. Dabizas: Did well, but let him go back to renting out sun beds in Crete

5. Heath: Played OK, as well as can be expected, but he’d be better sticking to Morris Dancing. Not long now Matt.

6. Scowcroft: Still our best player. He has the touch, he inspired the team, he won the game. I rest my case. All apologies will be gracefully accepted and published.

7. Gudjonsson: He was energetic but we should get rid of him. He would make a good ski instructor.

8. Tiatto: Better he thought more and acted less. I’m not a huge fan of his although I do understand he wins hearts with his efforts.

9. Williams: A certain improvement was noticed ie he’s started running around and tackling people. He needs to be moved on.

10. Gillespie: The sooner he’s gone the better.

11. Connolly: I’m no fan of this player, he flaps about in front of goal instead of sticking the ball in the back of the net. He should be dropped and brought on after 25 mins to replace Gillespie when he’s getting tired and wondering how the 3.15 at York finished.

I know he's 'different', but I find some of his views baffling. Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but he seems a bit of a nutcase to me. ;)

I agree, i read that and what he said about Scowy is enough to get the men in white coats in!

To be fair he has a point about Matt Heath, although I know you didn't highlight that.

Yep, I agree with him on that. ;)

I always used to looking forward to reading Gilbert the Filbert, but recently he seems to have become more negative about City.:unsure::rolleyes: <_<

I'd never heard of him before the last couple of weeks. To say that his views are bizarre would be an understatement. Yes football is a game of differing opinions but if he thinks we should get rid of Connolly, Stewart, Gillespie and Gudjonsson after their recent performances, he needs to get his eyes tested.

I don't see him as making any sense. What does badmouthing your own team achieve?

When I was teaching it was always the Kids that you encouraged and supported that tried their hardest! The same applies to the football pitch, if you are positive and SUPPORT you can give the team an extra lift that on occasion is the difference between winning and losing.

Try it Gilbert, you may be surprised.

I, too, disagree with Gilbert's assessments. But if he hadn't nominated Scowcroft as our star performer how many of you would have posted on this thread?

My main beef with Gilbert is his set against Stewart. He doesn't appreciate that tactics dictate that talented players are often called on to do mind numbingly awful things.

And another thing Gilbert: if you want a clear out I hope you're free to run the line for a few Sundays in the Leicestershire Seniors.

Because that's where the next lot will be coming from...
