I'm from the school of anything is better than nothing...... Well done!

I ran some daft challenge 3 months ago over 80 miles in 3 days, did nothing after that except spend too much time in the bar until yesterday......

Ran about 3 miles and couldn't walk down the stairs this morning......

Keep it up...it gets easier.

Unless by 'thats crap' you meant you didn't run at all.......thought maybe you meant 4.5 miles was crap !

I want to run a marathon, so 4.5 miles, ultimately, is crap. Seeing as the marathon I want to run is London, I have plenty of time to build up to it, but I want to do another half before then. Did one almost two years ago, and was very disappointed with the time, but not the achievement.

how long? my guess around 2hrs 10 for a first effort.....right ball park?

I'm doing a half marathon in October, keen.

Oh. It was 2hrs 3mins, so a bit quicker. I wanted to get under 2 hrs.

Stupid me. I've gone and upset people again now. :(

The Leicester?

That's the one I did. They're moving it to the city centre again, and will be relatively flat this time.

Ten minute mile-ing isn't bad at all for first go..... I broke two hours a few years ago when I was a little heavier.....trick is to start slow and get faster as you go picking off the straglers one by one, great for the mental motivation rather than strting quick and dying a death at ten miles...N.

Ah the "Hell of the Midlands" sponsored by Birstall Runners, bitch of a hill at the eleven mile mark eh? You'll definately go sub two hours on a flatter course.

That hill = :@

It did for me.

As for picking off the stragglers, I had these two fat women in my sights until the hill, then they left me for dead. Not that I'm fattist or owt.

Ah well, make him run in front. Unless he has a huge ass in which case run behind and beat him until it shrinks.

My first night out last night since the smoking ban has come in and I have mixed reviews about it. The pluses are that I dont come back smelling like an ashtray and the air is a lot nicer on a dancefloor or in a bar than before. The downsides are, people blocking stairwells waiting to go for a fag outside clubs making it very difficult to get by, also i'm the only one out of the group who doesnt smoke so often my mates were disappearing at random intervals to have a quick cancer stick. I'm not sure what to think at the moment really, I must say whenever i've been out and about i've only noticed the odd few people smoking but the amount going outside to light up last night was astonishing, maybe it was just the people out that night, who knows.

It's to be expected mate, instead of being spread out throughout the club they're all concentrated in one place.
