Yay for the smoking ban :worship: It should have been done years ago. If you smokers want to stink you own clothes out then good luck to you, but to do it to someone elses is downright rude.

I still can't believe this is going to happen. It has to be the most ridiculous law ever passed.

Common sence would be that pubs should have to have at leats 50% non smoking area. But we're being pushed onto the streets and beer gardens. I think it's an outrage.

Don't even get me started on smoking at work, if work places have a completly seperate smoke room then what's the issue with that?

They'll be banning beer in public places next.

teeno you saucey sod, and change your signature

If you think this is stupid... then you'll love it when you need to fork out £90 for a ID card and run the risk of going to prison if you dont!:frusty:

I say this but the smoking ban does make some sense, unlike ID cards... then again i never trust a government to pontificate about what people should and shouldnt do (somthing this government and indeed the Thatcher government seemed to have a real taste for ).

You don't have to breath in the foul smoke of drinkers.

I went to an auction in Hinckley the other night and had a whole row of smokers in front of me all letting their cigarettes trail smoke into my eyes and everyone else's.

There was no alternative, no "clean" room. If I'd dumped a pile of steaming shit in front of their tables they'd have soon complained.

It's a foul habit conducted by selfish people who don't give a toss how they affect others. And on this occasion they cost the auctioneer at least £40 in commission cos I simply walked out.

I say we just stop selling cigarettes!

but the government wont to it because they gets alot of money from the tax!!

And people would just buy them from abroad or from dodgy markets/shop.

S'right.

Our British fags are made to exacting standards and have to pass rigorous tests. Each fag now comes complete with its own certificate of authenticity and is kite-marked for quality. All those johnny foreigner fags are nothing more than a mixture of rat droppings, broken glass and used syringe needles. And they fall apart at the threads after just a couple of days being worn.

Remember kids - pirating cigarettes is killing the tabacco industry - just say 'no' to counterfeits.

I dunno if you're being serious or not but you totally missed my point either way.

There is no point.

There is no point to anything I post.

Even when I am trying to make a point it is totally irrelevant because internet fora are wholly irrelevant.

I'm amazed that I have to point this out.

I'm full of shit.

And proud.

Spot on, i can't wait for this ban to kick in!

Neither can I!

We're going out on 22nd June - wish we could wait 10 days or so

and have a smokefree night instead

Well logic would have it that if a public building wanted to allow for smokers to er....smoke in thier buildings they should apply for a licence, the same way a drinking hole needs a licence to serve drinks. A person goes to a pub to er....drink and that way if a public building had a licence, people that did not want to passove smoke would not go in there and those that want to smoke and drink would go there.

I know ............ i am way too diplomatic to be involved in politics.

I bet I'm more full of shit than you. You're only half full of shit. And half full of semi-witty anecdotes about your time in 'Nam.

It all worked brilliantly in Ireland. I never thought it would, given the number of hardened smokers out there!

Apparently there were 2 side affects to this.

1) The number of road accidents involving pedestrians outside pubs increased, as people were spilling out into the road when having a fag.

2) Some younger people took up smoking, as it is easier to pick up a member of the opposite sex when outside a night club, as you can hear each other better, and the marvellous ice breakers "Got a light?" etc are readily available.

I guess being ploughed into by a car while smoking outside must be a hindrance to the old chatting-up? :unsure:lol

This riles me, greatly.

It would annoy me to but it's Thracian, and I'm above arguing with him.

Giving up arguing with Thracian is harder than giving up smoking....fact.

Argue with him.

You two haven't had a decent barney in a while.

I'll even run a sweepstake on it - how long before Thracian completely changes tack, changes the subject and posts something which doesn't make sense complete with a ridiculous simile and perhaps even an analogy and then claims to have won the argument?

Good going.

I'm now only 1 Sweepstake short of my prediction of 5 new sweepstakes being started this week.
