The People's Hero Posted 10 June 2007 Posted 10 June 2007 What about your head this morning? Fine mate. Hardly got any sleep though and I've done a fair amount of miles today... so hitting the sack in a moment. Just thought I'd say - well done to the u21's. Deserved victory. My first goal wasn't offside though, not by a long way.
The People's Hero Posted 10 June 2007 Posted 10 June 2007 Off by a country mile. Everyone who had a view of it says otherwise! It only appears to be your team who thought it was off! Ah well, not worth arguing about. I know it was onside, so that's good enough for me.
Guest Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 'Kokopops hat, that was legendary.I preferred it to the Cech effort, to be fair.
Manwell Pablo Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Off by a country mile. Finners was off TPH wasn't, and I admit I said we weren't playing active offiside as it's confusing enough for the proffesional linesmen to call and get right. But seeing as you lot started playing active offside from the off I guess thats was what we were playing, therefore not off!
Thracian Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 It's academic really but as far as the disputed goal was concerned was there an offside flag from the linesman or not? From where I stood (by no means conclusive) it looked offside by the sort of distance Authorized won the Derby. And I got the impression most people accepted that...especially seeing the Under 21's had the bigger squad.

If you mean the 10 year old who was never up with play and just said offside everytime any defender put their arm up, then yeah - good point. It was the kind of finish which, if Louis Dodds had performed would have had you wetting yourself and clamouring for his immediate inclusion in the full England set up! Yours, Kavana.
Thracian Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 I dunno, I didn't see it. Carl and Lisa were convinced TPH was on side by a long way. Ummm. I'll say nothing about that. But I got the distinct impression that a flag was raised and that the Under 21's stopped. What was the restart? Goalkick or centrefield kick-off?

What was the restart? Goalkick or centrefield kick-off? I assume you mean free kick? And yeah I think your lot took a free kick. I'm not saying it wasn't given offside. It was. But I was looking along the line and wasn't even far from Scowy when he played it. There were 2 defenders playing me on. As has been said, Finners was off, but was on the other side of the pitch and running back. Count it or don't count it, it won't bother me. It was a good bit of play from our side and a good finish. Just a poor decision. Immaterial to the 'result' anyway.

I quite agree it was a good bit of play but bad decision or not, final score 4-2.
Wezleylowski Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 To be fair TPH there was about 2 of us stood around you when you shot and i for one was no more than 10 foot away. Had the kid not shouted offside i would have made much more of an effort to close you down.

Have to do it again sometime - just give me a month to recover....

The People's Hero Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Cuts? How have you managed that.6 blisters here Went up for a header with Bertfox, basically just wiped him out, but he landed on my foot, broke a few nails. These nails then seem to have just cut up my toes. Wish it was more macho than that, I really do!
The People's Hero Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 We are both cripples then Are you still nursing a mondo hangover too? I think we were all okay on that front. I felt fine on that front on Sunday, just my body wouldn't forgive me. And from the photos, it appears we had a good time Saturday night, too!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 I will be demanding a place on the bench next time.
