But I got the distinct impression that a flag was raised and that the Under 21's stopped.

Seeing as TPH was behind two u-21 players when Scoweh played the ball, I would say onside. I think the shock of seeing such wonderful play left the u-21 defence static, and TPH free to run through. Then the u-21 side started to shout for offside, and the kid running the line, who was standing nearer the halfway line than he ought to be, timidly raised his hand.

That's a fair point really.

4-2 or 4-3 ? It doesn't really matter. Great day out for everyone involved.

If you mean the 10 year old who was never up with play and just said offside everytime any defender put their arm up, then yeah - good point. :appl:

lol He's 14-15 if you believe it

I don't think the quality of the decision nor the timidity or otherwise of the linesman/boy/person comes into it. The decision was made, TPH says a free-kick was taken. Result 4-2.

The fact that the Under 21 defence chose to take time out and appreciate the finish from a distance simply shows how sensible they were not to waste further energy on a hot day when a decision had been made or was, in their view, going to be made.

Whether the appeals amounted to intimidation of the linesperson, perhaps as a result of Martin Allen's influence since he joined Leicester City, I don't know. It was much too far away for me to judge!.

I know they stopped for a penalty earlier but, unfortunately for their seemingly cast-iron case, there was no-one to appeal to. Perhaps they were due some better luck!. :D

How long ago now it seems you were going on and on about how many goals Elvis would have scored if the linesman had not wrongly flagged him offside.

It would seem that life can be tough for Elvis and TPH! I have every sympathy for both of them. :D

It wasn't the Champions League final lol

I couldn't believe how seriously it was being taken!

Basically as soon as I came off there was no one ordering the back line about.:unsure:

Ah well.

Just imagine if any of your lot could finish like that?

Hehe!

Ah but "my lot" were young, impetuous, and clearly up against much older, more experienced opposition whose solid virtually unchanging unit gave them a cohesion that couldn't be easy for the ever-changing Under 21's to match and counter.

That they managed splendidly, and clocked up a respectable four goals in doing so, didn't so much indicate any failings but rather the extremely mature realisation that it was unwise to peak too soon bearing in mind that there may be other fixtures in the future. :D
