Finnegan Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 Good game lads, some good goals scored (eh? eh? ) I'm sure most of you, as I type, are at the pub discussing it - but a nomination has to go to Tom for MotM (sorry JME.) Well, I just bagged a cheeky shower on my way through to Donnington, I'm back off to the festival. Big thanks to M_P for organising a great game, let's have more of 'em soon! ps: Shut up, James was miles onside. We've witnesses!

I have beers in the fridge, and live in kegworth if thats anygood? did TPH score first goal?
Sly Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 No Jamie socred first and it was 1-0 at half time to the under 21s. Maybes scored the second (or maybe it mas my own goal ) to make it 2-0. Bert scored the third to make it 3-0. Not sure who scored our first to make it 3-1. TPH then beat the offside trap to score the goal of the game by curling the ball over the goalkeeper to make it 3-2. TPH then again with a great header to make it 3-3. Unfortuantely for us Jamie scored late on to make it 4-3 to the under 21s. Good game though. We didn't have a ref. We were denied a penalty though early in the second half Edited: To change spelling as I still can't type due to being to shattered.
cisono Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 Yay! It's getting stupidly hot now!Is it too late to feign an injury? It is now
Sly Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 It is now We had 12 players, they had a squad larger than Chelskis!!
cisono Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 We had 12 players, they had a squad larger than Chelskis!! Why would that be? (or even be allowed?)
Sly Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 Why would that be? (or even be allowed?) I think a few of our players did a no show. So we just took it in turns with our rolling sub. We should have put all twelve of us on and maybe they wouldn't have noticed? They had the luxury of fitter players and more subs so could rotate it more frequently. Still a good game though. to Manwell for sorting all this out.
lookwhaticando Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 Not sure who scored our first to make it 3-1. so i was right that tph would score your first What are you, omnipresent?
JoeyB Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 What are you, omnipresent? I'm half asleep, just read what i wanted to read
Sly Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 Sorry I can't confirm who scored our first. I was at the other end of the pitch. I played in defence and was unable to get forward due to age related problems.
Lord Nibblington Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 Finners got our first. Cracking effort from our side. Another 5 minutes and we would have had 'em. Clearly playing for time at the end!
Tommeh Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 great game, and great result for the under 21's Big thank you for Manuel Pablo for setting all this up - It really was a top day Look forward to doing it again sometime.
Tomassi Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 today was fantastic and big credit to all the guys who played and watched and most of all Manwell for sorting us all out! Both sets of lads are a quality bunch and we had a right laugh! I always thought the role of the physio was to cure or help injuries though mine got worse My man of the match is James (TPH). he was everywhere today and i was loving the second goal when he ran between 4 defenders to meet a tomassi cross! beautiful combination high 5! Hopefully do it again! Now im off to nurse my injuries and maybe drink some more beer yay!
Floating Fox Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 Come on it was 4-2. Get it right. Cracking effort from our lads. MOTM was JME with out a doubt. TPH shirt pulls like an Italian  The best bit had to be seeing James leave in the convertable. I'm knackered and didnt even play. Fook.
Samu Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 Sorry I couldn't have stayed for more of it but it looked a good game anyway! I said hello to Tom but didn't speak to anyone else really (btw I was wearing a red Holloways t-shirt) but it all seemed like a good laugh! But it was a bloody hot day to play so good on you all for keeping on playing. Is anyone out tonight? I'm going Zanzibar for a mate's birthday so if anyone's around maybe I'll see you there! Sam
Lord Nibblington Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 TPH's performance today was both amazing and dissapointing. Amazing since he did play quite well. But dissapointing because of the level of standing around in the centre circle and pointing was not what we'd been lead to believe.
potter3 Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 Great game/day Didn't know who half the over 21's were though Thanks to MP for organising it
Simi Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 Fantastic day for everyone that was involved . Thanks go to MP for sorting the day out. I enjoyed the game myself, met a lot of new people who are all very genuine. Finnegan - Great finish for to get it back to 3-1 TPH does shirt pull like an Italian, my bursting runs were stopped due to the shirt pulling
Thracian Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 There was much to applaud. For two off-the-cuff teams to have such a close contest was a credit to all - and particularly to Manwell for keeping the thing rolling, to Jamie and SUAS for getting such a keen U21 side together and to Hullfox for travelling all the way from the east coast to organise and inspire his side both on and off the field. The Under 21's are convinced the score was 4-2, the Over 21's reckon 4-3 but, whatever it was a cracking contest in baking hot conditions. Jamie's to be congratulated on two excellent goals (the first and last), Maybe's on a much-welcome second and Bertfox on the third for the Under 21's after an afternoon of tireless effort in making chances and endless frustration in putting most of them over the bar. Well done to all who took part. Definitely an event that's worth repeating I'd suggest.
Mikey Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 It was a great game/day as everyone has already said. And it definitely was 4-2 Btw if nobody knew me I was the little s**t that played about 15 minutes.
C-man Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 Great day. Shattered now though! Good to meet a load of new people, and see what all these brilliant mastermind tactians on this board are actually like at Footy. Thracian's pre-match team talk did it for us I think. Infinite words of wisdom. JMEs performance was quality, has to just pip Maybes for man of the match. Bert led by example - quality up until the finish where he suddenly became Elvis Hammond. (His goal was good though ) Funniest bit was when Jamie said to Thracian he didn't have the engine of Andy King lol
Hullfox Posted 9 June 2007 Posted 9 June 2007 Back home and showered, awaiting the taxi to go out. Well done to the under 21's on their win. My guys did all I asked of them. We were down to the bones but they all showed me commitment and passion and I'm sure will be redoubling our efforts on the training ground next week to put things right. Not sure that it will be enough to save my job though.
