Wilkesy Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Basically Derby fans = idiots and ...... Please help me out
The People's Hero Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 I pray to god they do this and get relegated. Reading and now Derby. It'll end in tears.
joely22 Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 At the end of the day, we're £60 million better off with a stadium expansion and a top up and coming manager playing in one of the best leagues in the world. To be honest, you lot would love to be in our position.

To be honest, you lot would love to be in our position. Wouldn;t you rather see the money spent on players? Its going to look quite stupid playing in the Champonship in that stadium, you only averaged 25,000 when you were in the top two most of the season. If your in the top two you should be flling your stadium to be honest. You'll get no more than 35,000 in the premiership.

joely22 Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 You'll get no more than 35,000 in the premiership. Obviously seeing as the stadium only holds 33,000!! And we averaged around 28,000 last season.
Tommeh Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 They've clearly done this just to extend the away end, so the likes of Man you, Liverpool, Newcastle etc. can take a good 8,000 along Although I f they do come straight back down which is what I hope and predict happens they'll be back to 28k tops in a stadium that size will look extremely silly, they may aswell wait to see if they stay up.
Tommeh Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Obviously seeing as the stadium only holds 33,000!!And we averaged around 28,000 last season. Not being funny that is a good average for a championship club but it still should be 32/33k we're only 4k off and we've been in a relegation battle watching constant crap down at the walkers, whereas you've been winning and at the top doing well. couple of points: I think your very generous with away allocations in the championship and even in the prem teams like Bolton, Blackburn, wigan, fulham etc. wount take more than 2k. Also there is far too much segregation at your ground possibly due to where the away fans are, this also limits the capacity just having big black banners down the sides.
Manwell Pablo Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 I think Im the only person living outside of Derby who thinks that Derby will stay up next season.
The Reverend Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 No its stupid to build and extension to 44,000 when you've just gone up to the Prem, absloute stupidity. Ready for the 08/09 season, well then im afraid it will be ready for when you came back down. This is the sort of thing you do after say 4/5 years in the Premiership, and you will end up being the next Leeds - big ground, half full. Laughable.
The Reverend Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 I think Im the only person living outside of Derby who thinks that Derby will stay up next season. Yes
Stevosevic Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Obviously seeing as the stadium only holds 33,000!!And we averaged around 28,000 last season. I obviously meant when the expansion is completed. And your stadium holds 34,000 mate!!!
Stevosevic Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Will your capacity be reduced for next season whilst their building? Bit of an anti-climax to the premiership if it was.
Wilkesy Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 I think Im the only person living outside of Derby who thinks that Derby will stay up next season. I think your probably right
potter3 Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 I obviously meant when the expansion is completed. And your stadium holds 34,000 mate!!! I love how your telling another teams fan how much their stadium holds
lildave3 Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 I think Im the only person living outside of Derby who thinks that Derby will stay up next season. If they stay up, i'll hold you responsible.
Brainy Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Im not even going to read the thread as I know what would have been said. Who cares?
joely22 Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 we're only 4k off and we've been in a relegation battle watching constant crap down at the walkers, whereas you've been winning and at the top doing well. 4000 off what? Our average? Or your capacity? I think you mean our average, with yours being around 23/24000. Its not bad for a side down there but you do have a 32,000 seater. Towards the back end of the season, attendences picked up, obviously and being in the prem, we should almost fill it each week.
joely22 Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Will your capacity be reduced for next season whilst their building? Bit of an anti-climax to the premiership if it was. No. Work begins at the end of the season I think. Probably after the last game and will continue until the start of the next campaign. PP was designed so that rows of seats could easily be added to two of the stands.

Although we did have a bumper one v Barnsley with cheaper tickets available. there were rumours that if we'd have stayed in the prem in 03/04 then we may have had a second tier on the A+L stand taking it to 40,000 and tbh I'm glad the plans were only if we styed up as we can't fill 32,000 every week let alone 40,000 and thats the problem I feel you will face if you come down. we've all seen what Sundeland and Leeds grounds looked like this season, and feel yours may be the same in 2 seasons I admire the ambition but feel you may need to keep contact with reality.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from. Leeds looked appauling all season. Can you imagine it next season?!! However, we have had to cap all season tickets this season due to selling so many, that's not bragging, (well it is) but it shows that the fan base is there. So if we stay in the Premiership then we will (theoretically) sell more season tickets meaning that we will need the extra room. I think that's the basis the board are going on. Makes sense really. But yes, if we don't stay in the Premiership then it might be a bit of dodgy decision.
