Fez of Mahrez Posted 14 June 2007 Posted 14 June 2007 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...utd/6751387.stm Fascinated by this. Dunno whether he wants to go Spurs. If he's not careful he'll be playing in the Championship next season. Which is ridiculous for a player of his quality. Fair play to not selling out to the Wham gravy train though.
The Reverend Posted 14 June 2007 Posted 14 June 2007 What an idiot. He was probably going to get more £££ at West Ham than he was at Spurs (presuming thats where he wants to go), and is more likely to get first team football at Wham. And with the money Wham are spending, id of thought they have got a good chance of challenging for a European place next season. Why wouldnt you move there?
Simi Posted 14 June 2007 Posted 14 June 2007 If he does end up going to Spurs, which I think he will, surely that will mean that Defoe will be out the door, with Villa lurking and supposedly West Ham. Berbatov and Bent ? I think that could turn out to be a great partnership.

Simi Posted 14 June 2007 Posted 14 June 2007 Keano aswell, i think hes quality I do aswell, but the money they are likely to spend on Bent (17m?), I don't see Bent spending much time on the bench. Looks like second fiddle for Keane if Bent ends up there.
Nationwider Posted 14 June 2007 Posted 14 June 2007 Hmm. West Ham have a whiff of the funny farm about them at the moment. I'd be tempted to wait and see what happens if I were him. Louis Saha's out for 6 months..... Van Persie and Henry possibly both off..... NUFC really want shot of Owen.... Bellamy and Fowler leaving Liverpool.... Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal or Newcastle.....who knows????
Maybes Posted 14 June 2007 Posted 14 June 2007 Wasnt he offered 75k a week? Silly Boy. Fair play to him to be honest. Turning down a big money move

Finnegan Posted 14 June 2007 Posted 14 June 2007 They keep trying to give the second fiddle to Keane and he keeps handing it back. Can't be topped, great player.
lildave3 Posted 14 June 2007 Posted 14 June 2007 He supported Arsenal I'll tell you who supports Arsenal...Levi Porter.
lcfc_jme Posted 15 June 2007 Posted 15 June 2007 Arsenal are a great footballing side... Anyhow, fair play to Bent. Was offered big bucks to play for Wham, but turned it down. I guess it's not all about the money with everyone these days.
lildave3 Posted 15 June 2007 Posted 15 June 2007 Arsenal are a great footballing side...Anyhow, fair play to Bent. Was offered big bucks to play for Wham, but turned it down. I guess it's not all about the money with everyone these days. Well it may still be, if he is holding out for a bigger club.
lcfc_jme Posted 15 June 2007 Posted 15 June 2007 Well it may still be, if he is holding out for a bigger club. Could be right, but he has been linked with Spurs and if he does end up going there, I can't see them offering him 75k p/w. Liverpool have also been linked with him and I doubt they'd offer him that sort of money either in all honesty.

I hope he does go Liverpool personally, i'd love to see him go there and do well in Europe aswell. Prove you don't have to go abroad for your goalscorers.

Prove you don't have to go abroad for your goalscorers. Him and Crouch upfront together would interest me as well. Two very different types of player there. I doubt him and Kuyt (who is seemingly a favourite of Benitez) would be awesome together, but certainly Crouch and one of the two.

How refreshing to see a player NOT moving to a club purely on the basis of how much money he can earn. If he does go to Tottenham I reckon they have a much better chance of European football next season than West Ham who still have a lot of work to do to rebuild after last year. Then the only factor is first team football - well, Defoe will more than likely move on, as others have pointed out. EDIT: not to mention the amount of uncertainty surrounding West Ham at the minute. I don't think any relegation decisions will be reversed but it's hardly a stable environment over there at the minute.
Lord Nibblington Posted 15 June 2007 Posted 15 June 2007 Interesting Decision. I imagine he's turned it down because he's holding out to a move to one of the big 4/5 if you include Spurs. I'll be curious to see what happens next. From a purely selfish point of view, I'd quite like to see him sold to someone. Don't really want him playing in the Championship.
