Tommeh Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 Apparently according to my uncle we've bid £200,000 for him, us palace and wolves. Theres a link on it here although no offer is confirmed Link - Lincolnshire echo Personally I saw him play once last season and he was truely awful, my dad says hes had a terrible season, but has got ability. Another one of those players who performed well in the play-offs and has attracted attention.
Zingari Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 Sounds more like a gardener than a footballer. i think he was eddie yeats in coronation street
stez Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 Sounds more like a gardener than a footballer. it has been said <_<
lookwhaticando Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 Knowing LCFC they will probably sell him for £5,000 and then keep quiet about it afterwards.mark budgen, lincs
Vennegoor10 Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 lincoln is my 2nd team and i try and get there as often as possible to watch. Hughsey is too good for that league but maybe not ready for ours just yet, not first team anyway. can dribble well and got a lovely shot on him but from what i saw about 1 un 3 of his crosses beats the first man. not sure what we want with carl cort waiting in the box. saying that however, he is a very good dead ball player, dangerous from free kicks and corners.
dandannieldanok Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 Wikipedia says so. Sorry my mistake , lets just say he is the 3rd best Hughes from Northern Ireland.
Loake Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 wouldn't be overly impressed if we signed him, seen him a couple of times and he's ok, but as vennegoor said not really good enough for our first team in my opinion.
MPH Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 i THINK they meant lincoln city football club. At least i hope they did.....
MPH Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 if you look at the fact we will now be having a reserve team ( we didnt last year) then i think this is the sort of player we will be needed. 16 minimum first team squad, only retained 8 of the quality youth team we had... but 250k-300k on a reserve player? ( because i dont think he is ready for our first team...) could of course be his agent as the lad might want to stay local. hmm... not for me.
lookwhaticando Posted 23 June 2007 Posted 23 June 2007 i THINK they meant lincoln city football club. At least i hope they did..... That's exactly why I was laughing. I didn't think it was Leicester City at all. Still, now a fan of theirs has revealed their game plan, we can ride in with a bid of 10k in a month's time and they'll bite our hand off.
Who ate all the pies? Posted 24 June 2007 Posted 24 June 2007 According to Sky Sports he's off to Palace as soon as they can decide a fee!
davieG Posted 24 June 2007 Posted 24 June 2007 According to Sky Sports he's off to Palace as soon as they can decide a fee! From Sky Crystal Palace are 'haggling' with Lincoln City in a bid to sign Jeff Hughes. Peter Taylor has identified Hughes as a replacement for Gary Borrowdale, who is tipped to join Coventry City. A £200,000 offer for the left-back was rejected earlier in the week, with Lincoln believed to want £300,000. Palace chairman Simon Jordan has confirmed talks are continuing and is hopeful of concluding a deal for Hughes. "We're in discussions with Lincoln and at an advanced stage," said Jordan in the Observer. "There's haggling involved in every deal." Hughes was tracked by Taylor during the Palace manager's time at Hull City and he could be one of two new defensive arrivals at Selhurst Park. Reports also claim that Palace are close to agreeing a £250,000 deal to sign Jose Fonte from Portuguese giants Benfica.
Sparky Posted 24 June 2007 Posted 24 June 2007 if peter taylor wants to spend cash on him then he must be good ! last time i watched lincoln i remember thinking frecklinton(sp?) looked a decent player but in fairness it was the only time i saw him

Like evey player who looks really good at that level I think they could do a good job in League One but this League is a different kettle of fish.

Simi Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 Quotes from Lincoln fans... If you're on Sky then he will play like Cristiano Ronaldo, if you're not on Sky then he'll play like Chris Ronald from your local pub.In the vast majority of the games he is lazy, uninterested and lacklusture. He doesn't bother chasing down balls that are less than a yard away from him and will then bitch at the crowd when the grumble about his lack of commitment. I'm amazed we rejected £200,000 for this waster. I'd have snapped Palace's hands off and then go laugh in my office that we'd just got rid of a player who's good moments in a match you could count on one hand, wasting at least 4 fingers. He's a good player, good luck to him cos it looks like he'll be going. He didn't play that great last season but was outstanding in both play-offs games. It depends we're your going to play him to wether he's decent or not, as a left back he isn't that good but as a winger he's decent. He's pacy, got a cracking left foot and can get a good cross in also has a decent shot. But he is lazy, greedy, big headed and thinks he's better then the team. I'd accept 200k for him as we have Owain Warlow to replace him and can spend the 200k on other areas. Although if Allen can get his head right you'll have a cracking left winger. Decent player but probably not ready for a Championship club.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ace/6270448.stm Crystal Palace have Northern Ireland international Jeff Hughes from Lincoln City for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old has signed a three-year contract at Selhurst Park and has joined the Palace squad for the start of pre-season training this week. He joined Lincoln in the summer of 2005 from his hometown club Larne and went on to make 68 appearances for the Imps. Hughes said: "I had enjoyable time at Lincoln but I'm looking forward to the step up and the challenge."
Chairman of the Bored Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 I'm all for starting a Frecklington bandwagon. Apart from getting zapped against The Gas in the Play Offs, he looked very good when I saw him this season.
