Bluefoxtim Posted 9 August 2007 Posted 9 August 2007 Got a phone call offering me a part-time job this morning... The induction is on saturday starting at 10am, with the Leicester game at 3, do you think it will be done in time? I better not miss any of the game When do they keep the doors open until, and would I be allowed in at half-time when they open the doors for the smokers?

If it's an induction then it won't be very long, just show you around the warehouse et al surely. If they begin to call the induction a shift then I'd begin to worry
Stevosevic Posted 9 August 2007 Posted 9 August 2007 An induction usually lasts the length of time the shift would normally be. You'll have to watch ten videos, have a tour, health and safety test etc... I wouldn't bank on making it to the game.

THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 9 August 2007 Posted 9 August 2007 Feck Don't go, tell them to go and **** themselves. I used to work at safeway when I was younger and my pyscho controller used to put me down for sat afternoon shifts every week without asking me even though he knew I had a season ticket. In the end I ran over his foot with a pump truck

In the end I ran over his foot with a pump truck Well in the interview I said I had a season ticket and would only be able to work until 2pm. If they do put me down for late afternoons, I'll point out that they shouldn't have given me the job if they wern't happy with when I said I could work. If I have to do a shift on induction, ill miss the game, If I don't do one, I won't. Been looking forward to this game for so long and the next home game isn't for another 2 weeks...
Geo V Posted 9 August 2007 Posted 9 August 2007 Phone them up and tell them you damaged a tooth on one of there pork pies and need some dental work which has been arranged for 3pm. Im sure they`ll let you go as the damage had occurred courtesy of their products.
Bluefoxtim Posted 9 August 2007 Author Posted 9 August 2007 Is it the one near the stadium? Yup. I'll be able to leg it over there if needs be! Not holding out much hope though
Blue Bob Posted 9 August 2007 Posted 9 August 2007 You must go to the induction. Do not lose this job whatever you do. We need someone on the inside as, apparently, every City signing is spotted in Morrisons - with a man on the inside we will know who is joining You might miss the game but you are working for a higher cause.
Mark Posted 9 August 2007 Posted 9 August 2007 My sister started their part time the other week, her induction was from 10am till 4:30pm, whereas her hours are only 4 hours a day 3 days a week. Unlucky
The People's Hero Posted 9 August 2007 Posted 9 August 2007 I suppose, at the end of the day, it depends on priorities.
Bluefoxtim Posted 9 August 2007 Author Posted 9 August 2007 My sister started their part time the other week, her induction was from 10am till 4:30pm, whereas her hours are only 4 hours a day 3 days a week. Unlucky Yeah mine is 12 hours. Must be the same then and it looks like i'll miss it. FFS Although on the phone when the woman said the induction was at 10am, I asked her how long it would be and she said 3/4 hours she must have been guessing. arghhhhhhhh
Lamby Posted 9 August 2007 Posted 9 August 2007 I didnt go for a job in Morrisons as it looks pretty boring

Its only a induction, but then again you get paid for inductions so they might be just as strict. Feel sorry for you but glad its not me

THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 9 August 2007 Posted 9 August 2007 Did you resign then? No, he did. or he was pushed, he was nuts. It was the Lutterworth store, which is fairly small, perfect for the company to trial out some of it's younger management trainees. I think his name was Phil Cakebread, the name says it all, when you start mixing light sponges or oatmeal bases with granary baps theirs going to be implications
chili_con_carne Posted 9 August 2007 Posted 9 August 2007 My induction at Sainsbury's was 9 - 4.30. You sit in a room watching videos and answering questions all day. You need to sign a contract, so bring you're national insurance number and bank details. You'll deffo miss the game but for a job it's worth it!

You could always be upfront and tell them you have tickets for the match!
Wils Posted 9 August 2007 Posted 9 August 2007 If you get there and your supervisor is fit then forget city.
Zingari Posted 9 August 2007 Posted 9 August 2007 you must learn what the important things in life are ; tell them to **** off, you're going to the match
