bainesy Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 We didn't have any assets. Infact we had major debts. I think its near on impossible to improve our gates. Our team where not worth any money. So why not another club?
potter3 Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 We didn't have any assets. Infact we had major debts. I think its near on impossible to improve our gates. Our team where not worth any money. So why not another club? We were "for sale," excellent training ground and stadium, pretty large fanbase, quite cheap for all that too.
C-man Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 - We we're cheap. - We'd improve our gates if we were winning. - If we get promoted he gets his money back and more. - He becomes a hero if we are promoted.
Joe. Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 We had the potential. - Stadium - Good Fanbase - And we were bought cheaply He saw the opportunity and he swooped.

So why not another club? in all seriousness though its because we are/were in such a poor state that he could buy a club with a 32000 seater (new) stadium with potential at such a low price. makes good business sense really

In a nutshell. Plus - debt is great. You just create more, and then just pass it on to someone else.
Monk Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 how much do you think he needs to spend though? Depends how many manager contracts he has to buy out.... but hazarding a guess I think it will all cost him significantly less that what he will sell us for in 3-5 years. roughly

So why's everyone slagging MM off. He's a bloody succesfull business man that know's what he's on about. Everyone should read this.

Head Honcho Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 Like all businessmen his motto is! Buy Low Sell High
Joe. Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 No offence Thracian, but the players you mentioned aren't particularly spectular, and aren't going to be fetching good money yet. Not even within the year I'd say. They're definitely good prospects, there's no doubt about that, but if they were that good they wouldn't be here now. Milan won't be making a quick buck off this lot yet. I don't think he'll make money on this team until we make the Premiership which for me, is still some way off.

Most of them had barely been heard of. Weso hardly got a game last season but is now regularly getting ratings higher than Clemence and Kishishev. I shan't go through the rest but lots of em are becoming well known names now way outside local circles. Seven have appeared in the first team, Stearman over 70 times, Porter over 30, Logan 20. They are starting to have an impact already and should surely benefit from having better players around them.
Dagha_07 Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 He opened a map of britain, closed his eyes scanned his finger around the page until his wife sed stop and it landed on leicester.
bainesy Posted 31 August 2007 Author Posted 31 August 2007 You could read my latest New Manager post bainesy. I've read it and feel well informed by your knowledge of LCFC youth I feel a little different now. I'm almost a little worried. Bugger. He wouldn't sell off all of our young talent for profit would he? he needs them to take the club up and keep them up. Its wheeling and dealing isn't it? thats just football

Don't worry I'm not doubting their capabilities, I'm doubting their values. You said Milan could make quick cash from these youngsters and I was just disputing that. They're not worth much at all at the moment, in a few years posibly, but not right now. Milan can't make quick money on them at the moment.
bainesy Posted 31 August 2007 Author Posted 31 August 2007 Oh and as i'm a newbie. Why would LCFC whose post has now been removed would say the mods wont like this thread?
Head Honcho Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 Oh and as i'm a newbie. Why would LCFC whose post has now been removed would say the mods wont like this thread? I've only just noticed him on here but he seems a bit of a twat!!! He's complaining about his threads being deleted but they've only been moved to the correct forum. Oh nearly forgot. MPH Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 Like all businessmen his motto is!Buy Low Sell High cant imagine him being able to sell DJ for 6m
Head Honcho Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 cant imagine him being able to sell DJ for 6m He isn't interested in a players value though is he? He's looking at the big picture-if we get promoted within his 3 year plan he's quids in-if we don't he'll probably be able to sell us for around what he paid at the very least.

Geo V Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 He wouldnt have to worry about a new stadium. The training facilities are very good. We have a good Youth set-up. We are one of the best supported clubs outside of the top tier and regularly beat the attendances at some of the Premier Clubs with the potential to get 30k plus on a regular basis in the right division. We are well located in the middle of England which doesn't give big problems to potential signings who don't want to go to cold places up T`North. We are high profile and have been as long as I can remember. We are always in the news but its usually for shite reasons. Apart from the top 4, no other club has won as many domestic trophies than us in the last 11 years. We were a good price. I'm sure there is plenty more to make us an attractive proposition but lets not get too carried away as we were in debt with few salable assets on the field. In fact, it was a bit of a donkey sanctuary this time last season. Yes we had problems but it was a nice club to at least try to succeed with and quite a safe option all things considered. Still, Im delighted with MMs initial investment with the wages he must have OK`ed for some signings and the transfer outlay as it did actually exceed my expectations. I also get the feeling he will make more money available in January of needed.
