Thracian Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 Anyone got a view on the best time/approach to Wembley from Wellingborough/Norhampton on Saturday. My thought were down the A43 to Brackley and to come in on the A40 to Northolt and Sudbury. Anyone have a better suggestion and any view on the best time to get there for an England game.
Mack Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 Do you have somewhere pre booked to park? If not you are better off parking a way out and getting the tube. Stanmore Tube seems a favourite for those coming from the north on the M1. When I went to the Germany game I was sitting there and wondering why people were leaving the game 20 - 25 minutes early. When we left I realised why! Wembley way was a sea of people and getting onto a tube going in any direction was a mission in itself. My advice would be to go for a drink / something to eat after the game and avoid Wembley way for an hour or so. Once you are on it there is no way out apart from to get on a tube! The wait can be lengthy and crowded. After an hour or so it is bareable and you can hop on a tube with ease.
Bryn Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 i have a VIEW of Wembley Way It looks far less inspiring from that viewpoint
samingram_uk Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 It looks far less inspiring from that viewpoint I belive that makes up for it

davieG Posted 6 September 2007 Posted 6 September 2007 Thanks Mack. I'll take your advice. I parked at Stanmore for the Derby play-offs and some bastard nicked my car, I guess they new we'd be gone for a couple of hours.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 6 September 2007 Posted 6 September 2007 Mack is right. It took us about an hour and a half to get away from Wembley after the first game there - and there were only 60,000 fans in that day. It's an absolute nightmare. I would certainly never drive there. Why don't you just get the train from Northampton? You can change at Watford and go straight to Wembley if you don't want to go into London and back out on the tube.
Stevosevic Posted 6 September 2007 Posted 6 September 2007 I can't wait for this game, first time at the new Wembley for me and a crucial game. Could have gone to one of the friendlies but this appeals more to me.

Ruislip is the only car park left with pre-book facility...forget Stanmore, it will be heaving on a Saturday. Here's the website: http://www.ncpwembleyparking.co.uk/index.html Leaving: I was waiting on the stairs and then ran to the Tube...Got on the first one out no problems. Otherwise, I'd wait for an hour too
Leicester Rule! Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 We ended up parking at Pinner and getting the tube to Wembley. At least you wil have seen a win @ wembley!
Leicester Rule! Posted 9 September 2007 Posted 9 September 2007 Talk about being pesimistic! We'l have won the league by then
