Raj Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 Couldn't find a thread opened to the forthcoming World Cup of Cricket,so i did one! Geo V Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 With the comp being a 20 over slugfest, I must admit I am going to look away from Australia and go for some value when I have a fun bet. Im not sure who to back yet but i`ll go and have a study but anyone can win this event. It should be good viewing.
Maybes Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 England have a very difficult group to get out of.
Geo V Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 England have a very difficult group to get out of. Im more confident today than I was 4 or 5 weeks ago. We seem to have some acurate bowlers and some players who can clear the boundaries so I am optimistic. I wont get a bus for it but still, we have a chance.
Milky Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 England have a very difficult group to get out of. Why? Top two go through. Zimbabwe are garbage.
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 Why? Top two go through. Zimbabwe are garbage. Much better than Kenya or Scotland though.
Milky Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 Much better than Kenya or Scotland though. Kenya are better.
Geo V Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 I think even the useless nations have a chance in this format. Some of them have got one or two decent hitters and in a 20 over game, you don't need that many to sparkle to post a good score. It will be a slugfest of the highest order.
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 Kenya are better. I strongly disagree!
Milky Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 I strongly disagree! Take it you didn't watch the world cup then? You can't say they're much better, it's more like a similar standard. I have a foot in the Kenya camp anyway. Anyway, it's like saying Luxembourg and Andorra are better than San Marino. You'd still fancy us to easily beat them all.

Zimbabwe aren't that bad they've had Test status before, I know there is talk of Kenya maybe getting close but they've never had it?
Milky Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 Zimbabwe used to be good until the Mugabee protest got rid of all their players. Like the Goodwin brothers, Olonga, Heath Streak etc... Huge shame that. They've rightly lost their test status now.
dandannieldanok Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/ot...nal/6970745.stm Commendable decision
Raj Posted 10 September 2007 Author Posted 10 September 2007 Id say any of the decent nations could win this...even England!!! Seriously, they have agood chance, and Sri Lanka with the big hitters in the team...but you need not look beyond India!!!
Flynny Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 For a cheeky bet I'd be looking at the Windies. Aussies are rightly favourites though.
Raj Posted 10 September 2007 Author Posted 10 September 2007 For a cheeky bet I'd be looking at the Windies. Aussies are rightly favourites though. Not England,Flynny??? Same odds as Windies...8/1 with Willhill!
Flynny Posted 10 September 2007 Posted 10 September 2007 Not England,Flynny???Same odds as Windies...8/1 with Willhill! I'd back them over us, just about. Depends whether we can make our experience pay or we've taken a load of second-class duffers. I'm hoping the former, but I'm not so sure.
Raj Posted 10 September 2007 Author Posted 10 September 2007 Read this article its quite interesting to see whos playing...i think india have Fcuk all chance after reading that!! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/6983505.stm
Geo V Posted 11 September 2007 Posted 11 September 2007 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/ot...nal/6970745.stm Commendable decision £1.38! To be fair the Windies messed up the WC with empty stadiums and banning the locals from creating an atmosphere so lets hope this one is a noisier and more successful competition.
Milky Posted 11 September 2007 Posted 11 September 2007 Chris Gayle has just smacked 100 off 50 balls! He's currently 111 not out off 53, and he's got 5 overs to add to it. Amazing hitting. Plus it's against SA.

Geo V Posted 11 September 2007 Posted 11 September 2007 Yeh, they cut to the dancers every boundary, and you just see a mass of men ogling in front of them. Thats how it shoul dbe, a real party! BTW South Africa are in test match mode. 8-0 off two overs when they need about 11
The Don Posted 11 September 2007 Posted 11 September 2007 Thats how it shoul dbe, a real party!BTW South Africa are in test match mode. 8-0 off two overs when they need about 11 An easy win in the end, chasing a very large total. Can't look too far than them for the title!! Even though G Smith has bust a hand!!
