Reserves tonight v's Port Vale

Fryatt, more goals.

;)

Goal singular. But I thought he looked better last night than when he scored his hat-trick. He was a bit patchy but what he did looked classy - both as striker and provider - and it was refreshing to see him use his colleagues.

As DavieG said last night he's putting forward a strong argument for jumping ahead of Campbell. And the teamwork thing is an important part of that. He worked hard too in a general sense, showing himself prepared to close people down.

Okay, I cannot imagine any Championship defence would have allowed him to wriggle clear for the shot which gave him his goal but a goal it was and a precision finish too. He'll be keen to see this week's teamsheet I don't doubt.

This is bizarre. In my mock report we were 3-0 up and drew 3-3.

How about giving us the report for QPR on Saturday?. If you can find the time for another six or seven reports while you're at it, I might just nip down the bookies!

I think this reporter must have a grudge against Richard Stearman;

----

Luke Rodgers sent a message to Port Vale boss Martin Foyle last night with a Pontin's League hat-trick against Leicester City reserves.

Rodgers bagged a second-half treble in Hinckley to wipe out Leicester's 3-0 lead and drop a hint that he deserves a first-team starting spot against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

He has been on the bench for the last three games - despite scoring all the Valiants three goals this season - but there was no doubting the quality of his finishing last night.

Shaun Newton bagged his second goal of the match two minutes after the restart to put Leicester 3-0 ahead. But Rodgers gave the visitors hope after 53 minutes. He latched on to Richard Stearman's poor back pass, raced away from the covering defenders and finished coolly.

He was on target again five minutes later after a well-worked free-kick. Mark McGregor whipped the ball in from the right, Charlie O'Loughlin headed down and Rodgers nipped in to power the ball into the top corner.

Rodgers and Calum Willock formed a lively front pairing and the latter was inches away from a leveller with a curling effort after 75 minutes.

The Valiants bagged the equaliser from the penalty spot with four minutes left. Stearman was harshly penalised for a clumsy challenge on Willock and Rodgers made no mistake from the spot with a right-foot shot into the bottom corner.

Leicester had earlier taken a 10th-minute lead. Matt Fryatt curled home after the visitors had made a hash of clearing a cross and Newton made it 2-0 after 15 minutes after exchanging passes with Fryatt.

Leicester were 3-0 ahead after 47 minutes when Newton fired home and then Vale roared back.

You could almost forgive the reporter for getting Stearman and King mixed up, but to then think the 6 foot 3 inch streak of piss was the 5 foot 5 inch Iranian genius is taking the Michael.

"Djeziri: 1 : Fantastic. Scored 19 goals and had a hand in at least 7 more in a lively 3-3 draw. Puts me in mind of a young Alfred Hitchcock mowing his lawn at midnight on a Tuesday using nothing but a cold cone of chips! Ran the young right back ragged.. he'll be having Scandinavian-striker-cum-winger themed nightmares tonight and who wouldn't? He was literally the cheese and arguably some of the French bread on Djeziri's small (but no doubt effective) supper plate. Came off to standing ovation on 82 minutes when replaced by the man he eventually hopes to emulate."

one of the people on here that actually makes it worth posting on here. Brilliant.

I'll slink back into the background now.
