Is anyone drinking in Greenwich before the game (Charlton itself has nothing in it except a crap version of Fosse Park)

Gypsy Moth - a good boozer

I fully expect megson to pack midfied with defensive players and for us to lose 1-0 or 2-0.

charlton have good players and will click before too long. Let's hope it is not against us.

Really hoping we play to our strengths in this one. It will be tough without Weso there. Clemence is visibly impressed with him. It's clear that Weso has the potential to have a better career than Clemence which would be no mean feat considering that Clemence has played most of his career in the Premiership and looks a cut above at this level. On many occasions this season the apprentice has outshone the master in our midfield.

It'll be different tomorrow. We'll have two experienced campaigners in midfield by all accounts and we will certainly miss Weso's driving runs through midfield. Obviously it's easy for me to sit here and say it but surely the answer is to bring in Kaebi who will provide that forward thrust in abundance. I'm praying he gets in the 16 at least.

I'm also hoping we give Paddy Mac a test. We know all about him. He's not as bad as some people on here are making out but I still don't rate him in the slightest. If he plays, we need to test him in the areas of the game we know he is lacking in. Of course that mainly means getting players like Campbell and Hume running at him. The decision as to who plays up front is a tricky one. De Vries, Cort, Campbell, Fryatt and Hume all offer slightly different things. I'd rule out Cort from what I've seen of him for this one. Personally tempted to go with either De Vries or Fryatt alongside either Campbell or Hume.

Anyway, that's enough of the daydreaming. Whatever side Megson chooses to put out tomorrow, we need to get behind the team 100%. None of this "one Martin Allen" bollocks. No "Ten German bombers" as we had to endure last time we were down in London. Just ninety minutes of support for the team. It'll be a really stern test against a team consisting of a fair few Premiership quality players.

The perfect yardstick for our players and fans alike.

Fez common sense talk.

Yup, agree with that.

McCarthy has always struggled against the more physical opponents. The likes of Parkin, Sidibe and even Akinbiyi have had the upper hand against him. We just need to get the ball to MDV's feet/chest - McCarthy will get frustrated and start to give away fouls with his flailing arms.

A few drinks pre-match will get me in the abusive mood to make his life ever so slightly harder.

Not many talking about this game then.

I'm seriously worried we're going to get mullered.

The lads will need to be really up for this one, if they want to get anything out of it.

a mullering is always possible with city - but i can't help but think that they will have taken a lot from the forest game, even the reserves and acadamy results this week.

i'm trying to remember that we do have a bit of form (6 games undefeated) and our best performance was against another so-called strong team, watford.

we wont get smashed, but it's hard to see us getting a result

Spoke to a West Brom fan and shareholder of 47 years standing today and she says that if Megson's true to form he'll try for a 1-0 away.

She says Megson could well take us up but it won't be exciting. She says if he's the same Megson he'll upset players and other people too but not the fans, which surprised me a bit.

She spoke volumes for their current manager Tony Mowbray and says he's got the team playing some terrific football.

Seems to me the more Megson's style gets known the more home sides will feel they've little to fear from GM by attacking at will.

Even if they get caught on the rebound, Megson seems likely to get defensive and invite pressure. Can't see us getting more than a point.
