Scow Posted 20 September 2007 Posted 20 September 2007 I'm a bit of a 'tard when it comes to phones, so any advice on this would be much appreciated. I've been with T-Mobile for over 4 years, and been out of contract for about 2. So I've had a thought that I should actually do something about this now. Y'know, get a better phone than the crappy one I have at the moment. (Well, it was fairly good at the time) Just been looking at my account online and I've been offered the following; Free Samsung Z400 Free MOTOSLVR Hmmm. Any recommendations?
Daggers Posted 20 September 2007 Posted 20 September 2007 Free Samsung Z400 Free MOTOSLVR Hmmm. Any recommendations? Move companies - I think T-Mobile hate you
Guest Posted 20 September 2007 Posted 20 September 2007 Try GSM ArenaI think it's called. Carl would know, but he's not here. Where's that wine box.........
Scow Posted 20 September 2007 Author Posted 20 September 2007 harsh But fair, to an extent. Just looked in to this in more detail - here are some other 'free upgrades' I'm entitled to; Nokia 3109, 5300, 7373 Samsung E900 Sony Ericsson K550i, W810i Any better?

Daggers Posted 20 September 2007 Posted 20 September 2007 Any better? If you're on a super-low tariff
Guest Posted 20 September 2007 Posted 20 September 2007 Sony Ericsson W810i Could have given you one of those months ago. It was good though, the Walkman is good.
stez Posted 20 September 2007 Posted 20 September 2007 If you're on a super-low tariff i'm on tesco mobile, i was offered the 'tesco value' tariff i was tempted, but said no.
lookwhaticando Posted 21 September 2007 Posted 21 September 2007 i'm on tesco mobile, i was offered the 'tesco value' tariff i was tempted, but said no. Most unlike you to spurn the value stuff. Isn't it about time that made a comeback? The W810i appeals to me more than any of the other phones you've mentioned so far...
Sir Fynwy Posted 21 September 2007 Posted 21 September 2007 I'm a bit of a phoneaholic, the ones you have been offered are all a bit old and are not the best, ask for a sony ericsson W880i (you should be able to get it free) but i'd recommend getting your pac code from t-mobile and getting a new phone from carphonewarehouse, or E2Save.com (they come unlocked to any network and without shit network software). Best bet is to get a phone on O2 from e2save because they are usually cheap contracts and you can get cashbacks. If you don't like the sony phones take a look on gsmarena.com for reviews of all phones available. Remember that the buyer is king and the networks will try to rip you off, if you don't need to keep your number forget about the pac code.
Trumpet Posted 21 September 2007 Posted 21 September 2007 The E900's ok. I have a w810i at the minute, its alright but its getting on a bit in mobile world years...

Go to the Carphone Warehouse website, see how much each of the handsets you were offered are worth each. Get the one that is worth the most and sell it through Ebay or Gumtree. Use the money to get the phone of your choice or spend it on booze and cheap women.
Turtles Head Posted 21 September 2007 Posted 21 September 2007 Best thing to do is ring up and make out like orange have made you a better contract offer with a free phone upgrade to any phone. They normally then free up more handsets to you. If not, ask to be put through to disconnections, make out like you wish to move company. These are the folk with most power when it comes to upgrades. Once in a while they call your bluff and start the disconnection process.... just hang up
Monk Posted 21 September 2007 Posted 21 September 2007 Whatever you do dont get a Nokia N95. Pain of my life.
Bojimha Posted 21 September 2007 Posted 21 September 2007 Wait until next month and then get the sony ericsson K850 third one down here t-mobile coming soon I am in the exact same situation as you, and this is what i am going for.
Kent Fox Posted 21 September 2007 Posted 21 September 2007 I want the W960i ~ it's lush. I like that - but I've not long had the 630i That's ok and free in most moby stores. Sony Ericsson look more manly - some of the Nokia ones are too girly for my liking.
Daggers Posted 21 September 2007 Posted 21 September 2007 I must say I'm impressed with the resilience of my W850i. The number of times I have dropped it over the last year is incredible ~ it still works although it sometimes powers down when I close it too quickly. Having a stock of pro-duo cards I'm loathed to have anything other than a SE phone nowadays.

Problem is that the new sony ericsson phones won't take a pro duo card, sony decided to change to the new M2 format so we all have to buy new memory cards, bast@rds!

Guest Posted 21 September 2007 Posted 21 September 2007 Godammit. This day doesn't get any better... How do you think I feel? I'll have to buy myself a new memory card when I upgrade rather than inheriting SF's old ones because he's gone and got himself a bigger gigabytage.
