Mark Posted 20 October 2007 Posted 20 October 2007 Well if going out and setting your stall out to defend and stop the opposition from playing all match, maybe force them into make a mistake that'll lead to an opportunity for us to score is your thing, fair enough just doesn't do it for me.

Anish Posted 20 October 2007 Posted 20 October 2007 We can't expect to only create one chance in a match and expect Fryatt/Hume to score. There's no point keeping clean sheets by overloading the team with defenders/defensive players at the expense of scoring goals. Having the best defensive record in the league is nothing to boast about when you're stuck in 17th position. A 2-1 victory followed by a 4-0 loss gives you more points than two 0-0s. I for one am not happy with our defensive tactics when it stops us scoring.

Another striker should do the trick, somebody who can bag us 20+ goals

When we can't score If we had players who could score goals then we would be sorted but bragging about having a good defence isn't going to win us matches. Saying that they have scored a fair few goals.

How fun. as apposed to seeing us lose 4 or 5 nil every game? get this through your think head, having a good defence means we don't need to score a shit load of goals each week JUST to get a point let alone win a game

Hence I'd argue that our strong defensive record is causing our problems up front - throwing 6/7/8 defenders in the starting line up isn't going to help the strikers score is it? i agree we need more attacking players on the pitch but can you really blame megson for not wanting to change a winning side anymore then necessary, next game I'd expect to see weso back starting (hopefully in place of Chambers) and 2 out and out strikers playing (hopefully DJ and Fryatt) meaning we will always have 2 players up field with Weso getting forward from the midfield too, plus Stearman gets forward a lot as does sheehan, personally i don't see the problem in being less adventurous away from home
