Meanest defence in the league

Recommended Posts

It's been the same since Levein came here, defense overload and I can't believe it's lasted this long when we've had no success, no one has the guts to change it such a miserable habit even with the funds available now.

It really does disgust me. We have had one good game of football a season in each of the previous 3 seasons and we've already had it this season against Watford so what is there to look forward to now? I feel like I'm counting down the days till Megson clears his desk.

We have too many defenders on the pitch and its costing us. The midfield hasn't got any flair or real killer passes in it. Megson football is the worst i've ever watch in supporting leicester.

Let him leave Milan please.

and replace him with who? realisticly who do you think would come here?

I still think the system can work when we get Weso and Clem back together in the middle, and stick a more attacking player alongside them. Maybe even Hume in the hole behind two strikers, because he can link it all up nicely.

Thats the thing, i really don't know but surely we can't go the whole season playing with 7 defenders on the pitch. We are just as bad as we where when Levein or Kelly was in charge. Not like we getting them 1-0 and are in the top half.

it doesn't matter how good our defence is if we can't score. draws will get us relegated not promoted.

Going even 1-0 down for us is a disaster because we never look like scoring and simply don't have a midfield to create chances to win games in the current system.

I don't buy into this bollocks that suggests if we play any less than the 6 defenders we had on the pitch today we will lose.

I am sure we thumped the league leaders 4-1 playing an entirely different kind of game to this boring and negative style of football.

Even Torres or Ronaldo wouldn't score 20 goals with our tactics, it's not Fryatt and Humes fault. N'Gotty, McCauley, Kisnorbo, Stearman, Chambers, Sheehan (all defenders) + Clemence, a defensive midfielder are hardly going to supply many chances. It's all as dull as ditchwater and getting us nowhere now and won't in the future. Is this really the best we should be settling for? Bolton can have Megson plus cash as far as I'm concerned.

If we must play 3 at the back then how about:

FULOP

McCAULEY N'GOTTY KISNORBO

KAEBI WESLOWSKI KISHISHEV CLEMENCE FEREIRRA

HUME FRYATT

Yes I know that some folks who have seen Kaebi arn't that impressed yet but surley an International with 50 caps, albeit for Iran has got to be a better option than Stearman to risk for a couple of games. And yes, Fereirra may for some unknown reason may be out of favour but again, a Benfica and Portuguese international is worth a try rather than Sheehan for attacking reasons? One good entertaining win and two entertaining losses are better than 3 boring hapless draws for me.

Agree with that,

If we play like we did today against Chelsea..

oh no.

I wouldn't mind that team

FULOP

McCAULEY N'GOTTY KISNORBO

KAEBI WESLOWSKI KISHISHEV CLEMENCE FEREIRRA

HUME FRYATT

Get rid of Sheenan, Stearman and Chambers and we could be alot more attacking but still with a good defence.

Well if going out and setting your stall out to defend and stop the opposition from playing all match, maybe force them into make a mistake that'll lead to an opportunity for us to score is your thing, fair enough just doesn't do it for me.

I see where you're coming from there Mark.

Today was very frustrating to watch, Megson set out his stall from the start, Newton, Clem and Chambers? :nono:

They're never going to create enough chances to win a game of football, especially when Fryatt is as lazy as he is away from home.

The centre backs look very strong, which is good, but we need to pressure the opponents more.

I think we should be greatful we're not letting hardly any goals in ye we're not scoring many but I'd much rather it be this way than the other way round.Lets just praise the defenders on what a fantastic job there doing and get some new talent in upfront. Let Megson sign some great attacking talent

OK, the football is quite boring to watch, but to be fair I've watched so much shit over the last 4 years I don't care what sort of football we play anymore, I just care about the results. I'm proud today because, despite being down to 10 men, we were still too organised for Scunny to break down. (And were cheated out of 2 points.)

If Megson wants to play boring football, I don't care, all good teams are built on a solid defence and if we start to improve attacking-wise, I won't mind singing '1-0 to the Leicester'.

If we play like that against the blunts and Barnsley then we'll end up with two more 0-0 draws.

"Ginger Mourinho?" More like the ginger Levein..:yawn::yawn::yawn::yawn:

I'd rather win games 4-3 or draw 3-3 than watch us play out 0-0s every week.

Football is all about scoring goals, we've seem to have forgotten that.

The system and Megson aren't the problem, it's our lack of quality in midfield. The midfield are trying to play short, quick passes.

We don't need a big man to hold up play at the top of the pitch, we need the ball to stay in midfield longer. This gives the wing-backs time to bomb down the flanks, and the strikers time to move and attempt to get in behind, which equals options. Which are what we're lacking every time the ball comes into space, because we're trying to play shortish and quickly. Too quickly.

I'd like to see a midfielder take some responsibility, move into space with the ball, find another midfielder with a pass, who then slots it either to a striker or a wing-back making a run. By this point we should have men up the pitch.

I honestly think this is ALL we need to do. Everything else looks fine.

i can see both sides on the scunny game.... we did score a perfectly good goal that was dissalowed and yes maybe fryatt should of scored..

But i agree.. was it 3 shots all game? its just not enough. no where near enough....

we may have the meanest defence in the league, but we also have the lowest amount of goals scored..10, However we are the only team in the bottom half of the division to have scored more than we have conceded...

I personally would be happy to concede a goal here or there if it meant we had more attacking options...

As i've said before - it doesn't matter who's up front, they'll always struggle if we play so negative.

the defence is solid and i hope it stays that way but i would prefer chambers or Kaebi (if he can prove himself) to plat right wing back as i feel they abit more attack minded and quicker to get forward and back than stearman. i do feel that we have got to be better in midfield to create something else our stikers will never get any chances which was proved yesterday apart from fryatt missing which came from there mistake anyway, it won't matter who we play up front if we can't create more from midfield and the wing backs but lets hope we can build on the solid defence and the attcking play will hopefully come when playiing actual centre mids or a loan signing comes in
