Milan Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 We don't have wing backs, why the fook are we playing 5 at the back at home.
Flynny Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 True. We're not good enough overall and don't have good enough players in the positions for wing-backs.
potter3 Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 5-3-2 was Megsons formation, why do Burrows & Taggart play it, especially at home with barely any fit centre midfielders. They seem scared to change anything. OK, so they're only caretking but it is not working, they need to show some creativity
Simi Posted 11 November 2007 Posted 11 November 2007 Because they haven't got a clue of what new stuff to try. Where are the people that wanted them in?
Loake Posted 11 November 2007 Posted 11 November 2007 we don't have any good wingers either though in fainess.
filbertway Posted 11 November 2007 Posted 11 November 2007 we don't have any good wingers either though in fainess. Ferraira?
l444ry Posted 11 November 2007 Posted 11 November 2007 Funny people us football supporters. Six weeks ago this forum was full of posts proclaiming that 4-4-2 was no good because City didn't have wingers.
Thracian Posted 11 November 2007 Posted 11 November 2007 we don't have any good wingers either though in fainess. We have several wingers but, you're right, the word "good" might be stretching it. Jon Hayes who is certainly as fit as some who were on our bench and in our team Saturday. Max Gradel who may or may not be seen here again. Ashley Chambers who's the fastest I've seen at the club with a ball at his feet. Sean Newton whose play right now suggests he's lost his love of the game. Marco Ferreira who is at least looking fitter now. And Hussein Kaebi who may or may not be able to fill that role. I've put them in the order I'd rate em at the moment assuming Gradel has retained his fitness.

Thracian Posted 11 November 2007 Posted 11 November 2007 Why is that. He has impressed at Bournemouth so surely it would be a mistake to let him go. Because he's gone back home to France following the death of his mum after a car crash. He has younger brothers/sisters who need looking after which is a pretty dire situation for a lad of 20-odd.

Six weeks ago this forum was full of posts proclaiming that 4-4-2 was no good because City didn't have wingers. Yeah then we realised we didn't have any wing backs either. I agree with the topic starter. Get back to 4-4-2, or maybe even 4-3-3. Whatever happens we can't have 2 in midfield which was essentialy what we started with yesterday.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 Fcuk no wingers how about 4-2-4 and cos apparently no one can pass hoof ball up to the 4 forwards. Tis the way of the future
eaststandtom Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 city are garbage either way however, i would favour 5-3-2 because the defence is more secure. i am sorry but mcauley and kisnorbo, as a pairing, are not solid enough but with n'gotty they are more solid. trouble is our wing backs in 5-3-2- are not providing enough service as well as the midfield not creating enough for the attack hence the likes of dj campbell looking crap because he gets no service. campbell is good in the penalty area sniffing away. anywhere else just forget it. unfortunately citys short sightedness means the likes of campbell and fryatt ended up playing on the wings on saturday because no-one else can create anything and that is not where they should be playing. however, even in a 4-4-2 we dont create and put any crosses into the box anyway. either formation is flawed because our players cant adapt to them. what else doesnt help is injury prone players who cant maintain levels of match fitness. the group of players are limited to their own positions and some of them cant even play them saturday was one of the worst games i have seen not just based on quality of the football but by what looked like a lack of effort. they all look like they have the arse. burnley put us to shame with some aggressive and pacey running, solid organisation and played some decent stuff too!! city were a disgrace. i dont condone barracking players but how much more of this sub standard dross is acceptable.
