richy2704 Posted 17 December 2007 Posted 17 December 2007 Probably just your usual lazy jounalism Leicester keen on Man Utd winger Martin tribalfootball.com - November 27, 2007 Leicester City are eyeing Manchester United winger Lee Martin. New Foxes boss Ian Holloway signed Martin on-loan while at Plymouth Argyle and is keen to take him to Walkers stadium in January. Would be usefull, would like to see Halmosi though. I think you could be right about this one foxes, he is a really classy player pace to burn and can score goals the only part of his game that lets him down is his tackling but he does chase back a little bit more than Sinclair did. Halmosi is not as fast but tackles better and is as creative, a great pairing together but I think you may only get Martin as I think that Halmosi may end up going to the premiership(if his performances continue) although I hope I am wrong. Personally while he has been here he has been one of my favourite players and a good addition to any championship club.

Jonezy Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Its a bit like Sunderland selling Fulop to someone else than us for a 1 million. He was at loan with Plymouth, and if they want to extend it, and Lee and Man Utd are happy with that, he should play for them. If we put in a future fee or something, I can understand it, but if we just offer the same as Plymouth, it would be very un-gentleman like and I wouldn't like it. Would be a quality signing though.....

Would be a quality signing though..... i see there as being a difference.... Lee Martins deal was due to end on 31st of december. there was no agreement in place for it to be further. Marton Fulops loan was agreed to last for the full season - it is only a previously unknown gentlemans agreement between keane and Martin Allen that has allowed him to be recalled. The only person who can be accused of being un-gentlemanly about any of this would be Roy Keane - he has clearly called him back now with the sole intention of getting money for him now instead of the previously agreed time of the end of season...

You have a valid point, but imagine Fulop's deal where due 31st of December as well, and we wanted to extend it, because he played so well for us. Then QPR comes in a get him for a loan deal until the end of season just in front of our noses. Wouldn't you be just slightly annoyed at QPR? Off course the 2 situations are completely different, and I just phrased 'a bit like Sunderland', as they are in our world the most un-gentlemanly at the moment.
MPH Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 See you all talking about who you are going to take from us. Who do you want rid of that might be useful to us? i could actually see Alan Maybury slotting in nicely to your defence. ( right back) I hope not, but i can see Kenton leaving aswell... Given a decent run in your side ( getting match fit and the fluidity that comes from regular games) he would make a good versatile CB who can play RB if needed or even an emergency defensive midfielder.. Kenton can get stuck in but wont try anything too fancy and will leave all that stuff to the tricky dickys in your team

Its just the sort of thing that happens these days really, contracts and agreements dont seem to mean as much as they used to mean...

Shame really. I just want us to be the good guys, but I guess I'm just too naive.... (Megson leaving for Bolton was a good thing for both them and us though.)

(Megson leaving for Bolton was a good thing for both them and us though.) no not naive at all... oh and when we gave Forest that goal and STILL won well, we were definately the good guys. Mandaric could of farted in the post match conference and people would of probably written that it smelt of roses...

Guess Lee being closer to home might sneak it our way then....
Dr_Fox Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 See, it was so nice to be in the spotlight for all the right reasons.... Guess Lee being closer to home might sneak it our way then.... according to his profile on Man Utd's website his hometown is Taunton so looks like Plymouth is actually closer to home for him http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid=...amp;bioid=91994

Think I been there on a piss once..... Still thats his birthplace, not indicating he still lives there.

(Megson leaving for Bolton was a good thing for both them and us though.) That is a refreshingly honest statement and unfortunately true. Lee Martins loan contract runs out on the fifth but was talking to Fergie about yesterday, Fergie agreed he was to stay out on loan however there is debate as to where, us, leicester or wolves he is featured in an article that was only put on Argyles website today advertising the cup match so I hope that means he is staying. I think if he doesnt stay we us he will most likely go to wolves as they are a stronger team than you and more likely to get into the playoffs and the premiership(sorry), I think it will be announced tommorow but I beleive either way this was decided before christmas and its just lazy journos just dragging up the same stories.
Fox 4 Life Posted 7 January 2008 Posted 7 January 2008 Manchester United winger Lee Martin is keen on a move to Leicester City. Martin, 19, is keen to join the Foxes on loan this week after a loan spell with Plymouth - but Sheffield United boss Bryan Robson will make a late bid to hijack the move. http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=72572
