Suffolk_fox Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 Pretty pissed off that Ollie appears to be having a go at the supporters, does he think we're all stupid?Weve seen enough shite down here to know when a player is pulling his weight or not. I dont agree with the booing but its hardly our fault the team performed so poorly. I wonder how many clubs would have support like ours after 4 (at least) seasons of garbage? Come on Ollie, dont blame us, LCFC needs us more than we need them!! Quite a few are, yes. My wife (a huge South African rugby fan) says that she finds City fans unbelievably fickle - and she's right. A defeat to another ex-prem team and we are the worst side in the world. A 3-0 win and we are world beaters!! I have been following City for years, and I have never known us being a dominant force where I would expect to win every game - we are not Chelsea at home. We will slip up against other teams, then play a blinder against a Premiership team in a cup game. That's what happens being a City fan. We should know the script by now! Booing a player sucks the big one in my eyes. It helps no-one except the other team. If we were indeed the '12th' player, we would have been dropped and transferred to the Beezer Comic league on a freebie by now.

Oh, and your comments aren't so bad either!
James. Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 I completely agree with Holloway. Whether his words will make a difference is another matter. I doubt it.
Fox You Forest Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 a few days at la manga should help Lmao, if its going to be anything like last time i wonder if i can go.
plymfox Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 As a Leicester city fan in plymouth, I seen ollie in action down here. Done the same down here slagging off the fans that why the Plymouth attendences went down. Big fan of Martin Allen, given time Leicester would have gone up to the Premiership this season. Watch him fly when he gets his next club, good manager.

Could be a Peter reid and never get offered a job again!
Bellend Sebastian Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 I think most (all) players are too detached from the average supporter to give two hoots to be honest. It may effect some youngsters but an old 'pro' (& I use that word in its loosest sense) like Cort just turn-up & carry-on. They have a contract, they get well paid & even in this league live on a different planet to the rest of us.No doubt Birch will be on the moan-in tomorrow disagreeing with callers who say some players don't seem to try: 'Those players are professionals & when they cross that white line they do their best. I've never known a player not try!' Or some such non-truth. We have eyes, don't insult us. On the subject of booing a player: I've never done it but I've yelled at them plenty of times and have been glad to see some get subbed. But why shouldn't others be more vocal? Are you also saying: Don't post on here incase a player sees it, don't ring RL incase a player hears it & don't write to the Mercury incase a player reads it? As I mentioned though; they don't give a toss what we think/do. FFF Well, that may well be true - I cannot say as I don't know any professional footballers. If they really don't care what we think, that's even less reason to boo them. If it's either going to have no effect or a negative one, why bother? It creates a negative atmosphere around the stadium and surely provides encouragement to the opposition. Ringing Radio Leicester to slag off a player or writing to the Mercury is a bit different as it's not undermining them while they're actually trying to do the job that they're paid to do.
Plymouth Pete Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 We lost 2-1 mate. How many of you witnessed your victory? A massive 10,500 the entire population of football fans in Devon and Cornwall
davieG Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 I like the guy. He's got the balls to speak out. It's a shame he didn't have the balls to tell us before the game that Cort wasn't fit, I think the fans would have given him a far easier time.I did wonder why we haven't recalled De Vries (it may not be possible to do so) Ollie has grown in my estimation and wasn't even on my wish list for a new manager. I'm now pleased we've got such a positive man manager; the fans need to get behind the lads esp if we are struggling. Because he's really going to tell the Southamton manager that his key striker is unfit, come on get real please.

eaststandtom Posted 3 December 2007 Posted 3 December 2007 I just think it happens all the time at Leicester... they ALWAYS pick on one player... sometimes more to moan at. It's obviously Cort's turn this season. But some were ready to hate him before he came here.I remember Guppy being roundly moaned at, even during the Prem years... Some City fans just like to moan! this was true. if only we had someone like guppy now!!! what holloway was saying was right though. its bound to effect the younger players knowing that if they give the ball away or make a mistake then the crowd could get on their backs. this must be terribly nerve wracking and create tension amongst the players, regardless of the money they earn. 20,000 people calling you a tosser for misplacing a pass seems is a little harsh. 20,000 people calling you a tosser for not trying is another thing. ollie said cort was injured and i only hope he was cos it was a poor performance but i hope he can improve with everyones support
eaststandtom Posted 3 December 2007 Posted 3 December 2007 The one thing that anoys me is that at no point in that interview did Ollie take any of the blame upon himself. If Cort limped off the treatment table after not training for two weeks then Ollie is as much to blame for Corts poor appearance that Cort himself.I would have liked to have seen him admit that maybe he made the wrong decision, that maybe it was him who deserved the criticism from the fans and that they couldn't really blame Cort. That said, I hate the boo-ing that goes on, either toward certain players or the team as a whole after a match. It does nothing to help our situation. maybe he was relying on corts experience having an effect. i think starting with him rather than chambers was the right choice but he wasnt banking on such a poor performance.
Rocky Dennis Posted 3 December 2007 Posted 3 December 2007 A massive 10,500 the entire population of football fans in Devon and Cornwall    With support like that the Premiership will be a better place with Plymouth in it!
step Posted 3 December 2007 Posted 3 December 2007 Troubled that Ollie had a pop at the fans. In the debate as to whether it's up to the team to inspire the fans or the fans to inspire the players I prefer MAs approach. After 4 years of dross I think the onus is with the players to create the atmosphere.Second half of Cardiff showed what support the fans can give if they see some passion from the team who were clapped off after a 0-0 because they did their best. If a player isn't inspired just by pulling on the shirt never mind earning upwards of 5k per week then they shouldn't be here . So IMO the players do owe the fans and 100% effort is the least we should expect Well said
