filbertstreetboy Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 At the game yesterday there were people saying holloway must go,are these people stupid?ok i wasnt in favour for him to take over but we need to get behind him now and push to win this poxy division.Remember WE ARE LEICESTER CITY And i cant wait to hammer plymouth,we will be above them by xmas
Thracian Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 The truth is that Carl Cort has hardly been fit to do his job since he arrived. He's like tin soldier. I never have one 'apporth of sympathy for anyone picking an unfit player and had enough of it last season when it rarely, if ever, worked. I felt just the same about Ashley Chambers who, in truth, made no impresion than Cort did. Holloway wasn't without alternatives. Odhiambo is a better prospect than an unfit Cort. So is McKay. Both are better than Sappleton who would also have got my vote ahead of an unfit Cort. Another option would have been to play 5-5-0 and simply try to pass the ball through Southampton's defence. It certainly didn't work humping hopeful high balls onto Southampton centre-back Davies' grateful head. The whole point about being a good coach is to improvise when things stack up against you. Sadly unfit players are NEVER going to cope in Championship football and Holloway should know that by now. Holloway's match rating goes down to five on the back of that admission. As for his overall rating defeat costs him -1 and the mannner of defeat in not playing a team of fully fit footballers costs him another -1. That leaves him on +2 overall.

Great first post to introduce yourself you idiot. "We will be above them by xmas????" WTF ... HAve you been smoking hash? Just becuase we are Leicester City (a CHAMPIONSHIP, yes that right, NOT PREMIERSHIP CLUB!!) you think we can just rolled teams over everyweek! Get real you tool!!

I wasn't overly impressed when I saw him for Southend, but you are utterly right here, he would have been a better option. I actually thought Chambers did okay, we just didn't give him the right support. IMO The Sappletiser looked a bit far from away from first team football. I thought Ollie was 100% correct with what he said- what does booing say to the other players? I thought Cort was pretty poor, but no more so then some of the other players, it just so happens that he is the Kop's currently designated scape goat. I've said this before and I'll say it again so that people begin to the message (I hope!), people tend to confuse not playing well with a lack of effort. What we got yesterday was not a particularly great performance, but the effort was there. The players just need guidance. AND; Booing players has never helped and will never help in the future. As soon as some of our idiot fans comprehend this, the better we will be. I was absolutely ashamed to be sat in the Kop yesterday.
Rich Fox Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 I just think it happens all the time at Leicester... they ALWAYS pick on one player... sometimes more to moan at. It's obviously Cort's turn this season. But some were ready to hate him before he came here.I remember Guppy being roundly moaned at, even during the Prem years... Some City fans just like to moan! Are you so naive to think no other team in the land singles out players to boo every teams supporters boos players and 90 percente of clubs would have only 10000 fans at home games if they had to watch the crap we put up with.
Rich Fox Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 It isn't going to happen though, i've said it a million times before.... most of our fans are complete and utter morons. You really do post some nonsence on here our fans are no different to anyone elses fans they all boo and single playrs out what should we do give the poor little soilders councilling

Is it really necessary to take this approach to someone, especially a first-time poster just because they are being optimistic and trying to gee up some enthusiasm. He may be an idiot and a tool but you sir as rude and disrespectful as they come. Behave!!!

Bellend Sebastian Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 Cort was hopeless yesterday but I don't agree with booing him or any other player that's underperforming. Yes, the fans are entitled to their opinion but expressing it in a way that will at best undermine the confidence of a player that's struggling for form helps no one. It's more likely to make him play worse than better, isn't it? And don't we want them to play better? I'm completely with Holloway on this one. If every one else had been available he almost certainly wouldn't have picked Cort anyway. Some fans don't like being criticised by the players/club/officials but it's a two way street and Holloway's as entitled to express his opinion as we are ours

Well we were down to 9 men from the start so 5-5-0 is a great improvement
Jonbluefox9 Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 The thing that I don't understand is why did the OS put an article up in the week telling all supporters that Cort was back in contention, Holloway said in his pre-match interview that Cort was fit to play and then after a defeat and embarassing performance from Cort, amongst others, we are told that in fact Cort isn't fit, hasn't been fit for 2 weeks and hasn't trained!! If you're going to come out and say that a player is fit to play on the Thursday, you play him, don't be surprised when he gets booed and jeered because he looks like a semi-pro. A bit of honesty before the game may have made people a little more sympathetic although I imagine a lot of people would've said "why the hell is he playing if he's not fit?"
filbertstreetboy Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 I surpose being aggresive behind your screen helps you deal with who you are in the real world eh?The money we have spent and the players with have we should be above plymouth (who have spent nothing on players ) by xmas and we will be just have a bit of faith and get behind the players and holloway insted of acting the keyboard warrior eh son i dont know you and you dont know me so show some respect or pm me gobshite

However without team spirit, effort and stability which plymouth seem to have you will never get anywhere. In your earlier post you stated that we WILL be above plymouth by christmas. I find that somewhat hard to believe as we are 9 points behind them and there is four games to go until christmas.

Free Falling Foxes Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 Yes, the fans are entitled to their opinion but expressing it in a way that will at best undermine the confidence of a player that's struggling for form helps no one. It's more likely to make him play worse than better, isn't it? And don't we want them to play better? I think most (all) players are too detached from the average supporter to give two hoots to be honest. It may effect some youngsters but an old 'pro' (& I use that word in its loosest sense) like Cort just turn-up & carry-on. They have a contract, they get well paid & even in this league live on a different planet to the rest of us. No doubt Birch will be on the moan-in tomorrow disagreeing with callers who say some players don't seem to try: 'Those players are professionals & when they cross that white line they do their best. I've never known a player not try!' Or some such non-truth. We have eyes, don't insult us. On the subject of booing a player: I've never done it but I've yelled at them plenty of times and have been glad to see some get subbed. But why shouldn't others be more vocal? Are you also saying: Don't post on here incase a player sees it, don't ring RL incase a player hears it & don't write to the Mercury incase a player reads it? As I mentioned though; they don't give a toss what we think/do. FFF

As I mentioned though; they don't give a toss what we think/do. FFF I think that's quite presumptuous of you to think that players don't care. I would argue that this current crop of players do- yes, even Carl Cort. Every club he's been at, after he's had an injury its taken him a few games to get back to his best. Yes he's not really delivered since he's been here, he KNOWS that, but to say that you know it is through lack of effort is highly presumptuous, and I would suggest erroneous. Ollie wouldn't have come out and said what he said about the fans unless he knew it was having an effect on his team. It's patently obvious to me that it is.
Free Falling Foxes Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 I think that's quite presumptuous of you to think that players don't care. The views of the supporters are well down their list of priorities. Thats what I was reffering to and I stick by it. FFF
Jonbluefox9 Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 The views of the supporters are well down their list of priorities. Thats what I was reffering to and I stick by it. FFF I agree with you there. Why should they care what we think? If they don't play they still get their wages, if they put in poor performances there'll always be another club willing to give them one more chance (just like we've given Cort). Cort's got another season at this club after this season. If we want to offload him we'll have to pay him off and no doubt there'll be another club who see his name and think "we'll give him a chance, Newcastle paid £7million for him once so he must have something about him". This could apply to most of our players it's just Cort is the player everyone's talking about at the minute.
Lichfieldfox. Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 I like the guy. He's got the balls to speak out. It's a shame he didn't have the balls to tell us before the game that Cort wasn't fit, I think the fans would have given him a far easier time. I did wonder why we haven't recalled De Vries (it may not be possible to do so) Ollie has grown in my estimation and wasn't even on my wish list for a new manager. I'm now pleased we've got such a positive man manager; the fans need to get behind the lads esp if we are struggling.
STUHILL Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 What a sad time we live in, if all our players don't care what the fans think. I don't believe it personally. I think every human being likes to be cheered rather than booed. It's in our nature, we want praise not criticism. I back Holloway on his comments, I have never and will never boo a player. I won't criticise those who do either, but I will never be with them. I don't believe in booing a player to force him to work or play harder or even stop the manager from selecting them. I see confidence as one of the most important aspects of profesional sport, and booing does nothing but dent it. As for Carl Cort, well I never welcomed his signing and so far he has done nothing to warrant much praise but everytime he steps on that pitch with a Leicester Shirt on, I will be right behind him, willing him to score.
Raj Posted 2 December 2007 Posted 2 December 2007 It isn't going to happen though, i've said it a million times before.... most of our fans are complete and utter morons.
