Zingari Posted 15 December 2007 Posted 15 December 2007 well if you are all going to be silly and use long words I'd like to change mine to...hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia hows he going to get something to ryhme with that hes not flanders and swann you know
Rincewind Posted 16 December 2007 Author Posted 16 December 2007 The rhymings not the problem, it's the sylibles (sp) I have manage to fit a couple ofg the other long words in but I can't keep using the same idea to do it. Anyway I dont think I've used the other choice so I will try and use the second one. I have about a dozen left then it will be the tidying up so if theres anymore (didnt think we had this many regular posters) else put them up within the next few days. fridays closing day. The words that are left. Use as new list. Done. Just editing and freshening up left to do. I can add more but I already have 14 4 line verses. I was going to post it around Xmas eve but I can do it earlier If wanted. Parts of it is pretty awful but was not made easier by some of the words. My fault for suggesting it though though. Anyway I've not done it to win prizes, just a bit of fun and a writing exercise for myself. I am grateful for the response that it received which gave me the inspiration. Could not have done it without you.

Rincewind Posted 16 December 2007 Author Posted 16 December 2007 I'll have a proper look at that site later. It may be American based. I looked on the legal page and it was quoting American copyright law. I don't really do a lot now but I have an archive collection. Somewhere. I see another words been added I've used all the available so will wait a couple of days before using it The usernames appear to be getting longer on here lately.

Rincewind Posted 17 December 2007 Author Posted 17 December 2007 no, just centre it. Also I highlited the words on Word and wanted to copy it on here so not to have to do it again but it didnt work on the couple of lines that I did. I've realised I won't have time to do all I want to do which is make the area surrounding the poem festive. Am I able to save it on here without posting? Because I want to add so me of the xmas smileys and hilite some words.Cant find word on my laptop only notepad which I was using but transferred to my PC so I can only put the finishing touches to it at home.
Rincewind Posted 17 December 2007 Author Posted 17 December 2007 Does anyone know of a free/free trial downloadable program similar to Microsoft Word that would be compatable with Vista for my laptop? I've just Googled not found anything yet and I have to do a quick patrol now and something to eat. Not sure of what to put into Google. I just want a simple thing where I can do different documents with diffent formats. Notepad doesnt quite do what I want. Cheers

Rincewind Posted 18 December 2007 Author Posted 18 December 2007 I think I can squeeze you in. just have to look up the meaning of girth. not 100% on it. A girth is also a piece of equipment used to hold the saddle on a horse. Girth is the circumference of a cylindrical object. Now how do I fit a horse into a poem about a xmas party?
coale39 Posted 18 December 2007 Posted 18 December 2007 I would like my word Um Bongo to make an appearance if possible. It rhymes with everything.
Rincewind Posted 18 December 2007 Author Posted 18 December 2007 add it to the list then I wont have to search for missed words. this poem is going to be longer than Ian Holloways wanted list. On the other hand it'll be shorter than the unwanted at the Walkers list.

Rincewind Posted 20 December 2007 Author Posted 20 December 2007 It is about done. If theres no more added by tomorrow night I shall put it in a new thread. Hopefully this one can be closed by the mods. Then over the weekend I will edit out any errors. I was going to post it Xmas Eve but if it needs editing I wont have the time. Still I have got all the words in the list into it. Some of it is crap other parts not so crap but it was not easy given that some words were very long. I think I may challenge those that submitted the longest or unprouncable words to come up with a poem for the new year using the same words. Could I be that mean? Damm right I could.
Webbo Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 My word wasn't so bad, but here's my effort anyway. There is a nightguard called Ken, Who's amongst the finest of men, He writes a mean ditty, and supports the City What more is there then? I'll get me coat.
Rincewind Posted 13 December 2013 Author Posted 13 December 2013 Resurected. I was looking for the poem. A horse is mentioned somewhere according to post on this page which will please some.
