The Stig Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 TBH, I think the publicity of Hamilton is just about right.I know many may not agree and believe that it is over the top but he is a very talented person... In his rookie season he nearly won the championship, in a season full of drama including the allegations against Mclaren and the feuds with Alonso aswell as the sudden time in the spotlight. He dealt with everything so well and very maturely. Outside of racing he seems a very nice person, aswell as a very clever one. I mean not many people would think of the idea of going to live in Switzerland where they have no taxes Thoughts? I agree with all of that I just wish we heard about other drivers a bit more rather than just Hammilton. I agree he needs to be mentioned more often than most as he's British and an exceptional talent but ITV just go a tad OTT at times.
The Stig Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 Not sure what you're getting at there, I was just laughing because you said you were beginning to think that the FIA have something against McLaren. Yes I am beginning to. Your post suggested it was a full gone conclusion. For reasons I stated in a previous post I don't think that's the case.

However I am a fan of F1 first and foremost, not just Lewis.
isaidno Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 Ron Dennis is such a tosser I don't care frankly.Or maybe the FIA watch ITV and like the rest of us get p***ed off with the Lewis Hamilton bummage. Has anyone else noticed the look on Steve Rider's face when Hamilton is mentioned  ? And what about when Raikonnen won the title last year, it was like Hamilton had died, not finished 3rd in the Championship I kind of agree. After the German Gp, ITV cut short the press conferance to get Mark Blundell's thoughts on Hamilton. It would have been nice to here what Piquet & Massa thought. And what is there obsession with interviewing Hamilton's dad
Brainy Posted 28 July 2008 Author Posted 28 July 2008 Has anyone else noticed the look on Steve Rider's face when Hamilton is mentioned  ? Seriously though I think i know the face

isaidno Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 Everyone seems to have forgotten Jenson Button exists
Father Ted Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 Everyone seems to have forgotten Jenson Button exists Yep and Anthony Davidson (but then again he's not around anymore but hope to see him in a drive next year). Anyway, recently I haven't really rated Button much, he's not on great form and struggling to finish in the points.

Its his car.. Honda are probably the 2nd worst car on the grid.
Lovejoy Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 Its his car..Honda are probably the 2nd worst car on the grid. But Barrichello (sp?) outperforms him most races and even got on the podium recently.
The Stig Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 But Barrichello (sp?) outperforms him most races and even got on the podium recently. To be fair ita always pretty close.
Lovejoy Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 Am I right in thinking that Barrichello is the most experienced F1 driver EVER? One of those guys who has tended to avoid the limelight (admittedly having Schumacher as a team mate doesn't help) yet always done a steady job.
Father Ted Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 But Barrichello (sp?) outperforms him most races and even got on the podium recently. But then again, if I remember rightly the weather suited him and that was the race where everyone bar the top 3 spun-off (????) - I think..
Lovejoy Posted 29 July 2008 Posted 29 July 2008 But then again, if I remember rightly the weather suited him and that was the race where everyone bar the top 3 spun-off (????) - I think.. Yes but taking away those points, he still has more than Jenson and even when they don't finish in the top 8, he still finishes higher.

Brainy Posted 31 July 2008 Author Posted 31 July 2008 McLaren have ended speculation about Heikki Kovalainen's future by confirming he will race for the team alongside Lewis Hamilton in 2009. The Finn, 26, has collected 28 points so far in his debut season for McLaren but the team believe he can progress. "He is a brilliant young racing driver," McLaren chief executive Martin Whitmarsh said. "But there's no magic in Formula One and we still need to work with Heikki to extract his full potential." Kovalainen joined McLaren from Renault for the beginning of the 2007 season with Fernando Alonso moving in the opposite direction. After a progressive season with Renault, the Finn was expected to provide a tough, but more amicable, team-mate for Hamilton at McLaren. 606: DEBATE I think he justifies another year to build on his obvious ability and push on to race wins. Hywel However, after 10 races, Kovalainen trails Hamilton by 30 points in the drivers' standings to see his own title chances fade. A topsy-turvy season has seen the Finn perform well in qualifying, capturing a maiden pole at Silverstone, but struggle to make his grid positions count. Kovalainen's only podium of the season has come with third place in Malaysia and the Finn has been working with the team's engineers to improve his set-up ahead of this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix. But McLaren, who were rumoured to be interested in Williams's Nico Rosberg, have chosen to stick with Kovalainen as they look to build a period of stability at the team after a 2007 season upset by strained team relationships and the McLaren-Ferrari spy row. Whitmarsh added: "We welcomed Heikki on board at the start of the year. "He is under contract to McLaren Mercedes and will race for us in the 2009 season."

BlabyFox Posted 1 August 2008 Posted 1 August 2008 OK who do you think will win tomorrow? My money is on Hamilton
Lovejoy Posted 1 August 2008 Posted 1 August 2008 OK who do you think will win tomorrow? My money is on Hamilton Dunno about winning just yet, but Nelson Piquet Jr is beginning to look very tasty indeed. Brilliant drive at Hockenheim followed up by an apparently excellent practice at Budapest. EDIT: Massa to win.
Asha Posted 1 August 2008 Posted 1 August 2008 OK who do you think will win tomorrow? My money is on Hamilton You mean Sunday? Dunno about winning just yet, but Nelson Piquet Jr is beginning to look very tasty indeed. Brilliant drive at Hockenheim followed up by an apparently excellent practice at Budapest.EDIT: Massa to win. NPJ is looking quite good atm, but I'm just not sure the Renaults can really compete with the top 2. If at any point Hamilton/Massa etc all retire...them or the BMW's will be there to pounce. In terms of Sunday, can't see it being anyone but Hamilton atm
Brainy Posted 2 August 2008 Author Posted 2 August 2008 As a Hamilton fan..... I actually have a bad feeling about this weekend...
isaidno Posted 2 August 2008 Posted 2 August 2008 Pole: Hamilton 2: Raikkonen 3: Massa 4: Kubica 5: Glock 6: Raikkonen I'm starting to believe the rumours that Raikkonen is retiring. Another poor performance.

Brainy Posted 2 August 2008 Author Posted 2 August 2008 Interesting to see when Ferrari will start favouring Massa.
