isaidno Posted 4 July 2008 Posted 4 July 2008 It's true, it's on the ITV F1 site The British Grand Prix is set to make a dramatic switch to Donington Park from 2010, the FIA has announced.Rumours about a possible Donington bid for the race had circulated in recent weeks amid the continuing uncertainty over Silverstone's future as a Formula 1 venue, but this morning's announcement that a 2010 deal had been secured came as a massive shock. “Finally the uncertainty is over," said Bernie Ecclestone. "A contract has been signed with Donington Park and the future of the British Grand Prix is now secure. “We wanted a world class venue for Formula One in Britain, something that the teams and British F1 fans could be proud of. "The major development plans for Donington will give us exactly that: a venue that will put British motor sport back on the map.”
Floating Fox Posted 4 July 2008 Posted 4 July 2008 wow. Great news ! Matt you will have to get me tickets for this beast.
Manwell Pablo Posted 4 July 2008 Posted 4 July 2008 Fantastic, all of about 10 minutes away from my house.
SamL Posted 4 July 2008 Posted 4 July 2008 It's true, it's on the ITV F1 site I'm going to look into trying to get to that. It would be quality.
isaidno Posted 4 July 2008 Posted 4 July 2008 Sounds like Herman Tilke will butcher the track though, £100 million being spent on it
Manwell Pablo Posted 4 July 2008 Posted 4 July 2008 Sounds like Herman Tilke will butcher the track though, £100 million being spent on it It needs it, not even close to F1 quality track at the minute.
isaidno Posted 4 July 2008 Posted 4 July 2008 I'm happy that it's going Donington, but Silverstone, Brands hatch & Rockingham all have better facilities
isaidno Posted 4 July 2008 Posted 4 July 2008 Jarno Trulli is extremely lucky not be injured, his rear wing came off going down the hangar straight.
Manwell Pablo Posted 4 July 2008 Posted 4 July 2008 I'm happy that it's going Donington, but Silverstone, Brands hatch & Rockingham all have better facilities Brands Hatchs Track would need serious work done to it.
isaidno Posted 4 July 2008 Posted 4 July 2008 Kovalainen on top form today. Kovalainen fastest in second session, I still think Ferrari will win. If it rains anything can happen
Chairman of the Bored Posted 5 July 2008 Posted 5 July 2008 If F1 now coming to Donny, does this spell the end for Download? I think we should be told! Also, what price Bernie Ecclestone investing in LCFC and Max Mosely orgies happening at Mosh? Oooh....
SamL Posted 5 July 2008 Posted 5 July 2008 Do they show a repeat of the Qualifying? Indeed. The repeat is on at 10.30am tomorrow morning on ITV 4.
SamL Posted 5 July 2008 Posted 5 July 2008 It's nice to see Webber competing with the big boys, I was quite surprised actually. Good lap by Kovalainen.
isaidno Posted 5 July 2008 Posted 5 July 2008 Heikki's been the fastest all weekend, and he's quick in the wet too if it rains tommorrow. Mark Webber , what a guy !
ACF Posted 6 July 2008 Posted 6 July 2008 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Im a fan of the motogp, world supers etc... and having f1 at dony is wrong. They would have to have permanant 'race fences' around the track... which ruins it.... I went to Silverston world supers and the fencing completely ruins it.... and they would have to redevelop a brilliant track... MOVE IT TO BRANDS HATCH!!!!!
isaidno Posted 6 July 2008 Posted 6 July 2008 Just watched the Gp2 race and Silverstone is flooded. The cars were spinning off allover the place
Uncle Albert Posted 6 July 2008 Posted 6 July 2008 Just watched the Gp2 race and Silverstone is flooded. The cars were spinning off allover the place I love F1 when it pisses it down, makes it so more entertaining. May give Hamilton a better chance of doing something. I am tipping Webber this afternoon.
Asha Posted 6 July 2008 Posted 6 July 2008 Looking forward to this, should be good race and could be anyones if it's wet. Come on Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimmmmmmiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

lildave3 Posted 6 July 2008 Posted 6 July 2008 Was a very good start by Hamilton, pretty nifty driving so far. Sad to see Coulthard go out on the first lap today too.
