acooling08 Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 The worst points total was 15 (southampton) in 2005/06 with a goal difference of negative 43. Its half way through the season and Derby have 7 points and a goal difference of negative 37- which will get worse. (
lildave3 Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 Sunderland* Edit - And just because they had so many points halfway through the season, doesn't mean they're going to get exactly double that amount.

You are right it was sunderland. But i can't see Derby getting more than 15 points. Can you?

WetFlannel Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 Derby have made some allright signings, and under the guidance of Jewell, they could overcome that total. They still wont stay up though, thats for sure
Joe. Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 Oh they're 13 points off safety now. It does make me chuckle...
Asha Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 Under Jewell, I think it's a possibility. As much as i'd hope not of course. Attempting to put names to faces... Were you sitting at a table with your mates etc in the corner of the 1884 sports bar before the game?
filbertway Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 Ive bet derby to stay up at 12/1, true story.
lildave3 Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 Attempting to put names to faces...Were you sitting at a table with your mates etc in the corner of the 1884 sports bar before the game? Nope, sorry.
Simi Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 Attempting to put names to faces...Were you sitting at a table with your mates etc in the corner of the 1884 sports bar before the game? Sizeist.
MC Prussian Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 They will stay up. What are the odds? Oh, irony. I get it.
Ultra Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 Ive bet derby to stay up at 12/1, true story. I'll put a 0 on that and you can bet the same money with me! They are doomed, even their manager and captain admit that. The only question is whether they can break Sunderland's points record. On yesterday's evidence, it's more than likely.
Staf Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 Hossam Ghaly is a good signing but they have a terrible defence i think they will get more than 15 points but concede the most prem goals EVER
l444ry Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 Paul Jewell won't change anything. Not if he carries on using three players to mark the goalkeeper!!! http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/01_0...ell_468x320.jpg
joely22 Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 Not a chance!! Correct. Basically, we're fighting for pride now. Nothing else. We've all written the season off. Obviously none of us are happy with whats happened this season. The Play-Offs didn't help but neither did a manager who just wanted the money to spend, or the chairman claiming that there would be four new signings by the end of the week, or the chairmans off-field politics getting in the way of the onfield ones. All a farce to be honest with you all. It's embarassing to go to PP each week and watch us lose. We know we're not good enough. The fans, the manager and the players know that but like I said, we've got to just keep going. Unfortunatly the target for this season is not to finish with the lowest points total in history! Whether we can do that or not, I don't know. I'll give you an answer by the end of January. Hopefully the American investment comes in before the end of it, although I suspect that even if it's in now, we'll wait until the summer to spend it. Hopefully Jewell will make some shrewd signings in January and then a fair few more in the summer and we can (hopefully) go for a promotion push next season.
Joe. Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 Just out of interest Joel, do you still enjoy being in the Premiership or is it just totally frustrating every week?
joely22 Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 Just out of interest Joel, do you still enjoy being in the Premiership or is it just totally frustrating every week? Frustrating. When you know you're going to lose, almost seems pointless turning up! But 30,000 each week for a side that is getting a good raping isn't bad really. Like I said, if we get some decent players in in January and the same in the summer then hopefully we can give next season a real good go. All the fans trust Jewell, the blokes held in high regard by pretty much everyone at the club, mainly down to his no bullsh*t, hair dryer treatment and honesty. You'd understand more if you had Billy Davies as manager for a season and half!!

But I know I'd love at least a season in the Premiership just for the experience of it all. I don't know how many matches you manage to get to but speaking as somebody who goes to quite a lot of away matches it'd be great to visit all the Premiership grounds.

Can't get to away matches because of a job at nights so not had the chance to get to any this season. Was desperate to go to Old Trafford but just wasn't to be I suppose. Nothing better than out singing those fans from Stockport!! How you think we'll get on next season? Personally, and I'm trying to look at this without The Rams tinted lenses on, but I think we have a half decent Championship squad and with a few decent additions, reckon we'll be up there come next April/May time.

I wouldn't let this season damage your view of next season in the Championship. You've seen the quality gap for yourself, it's huge. I think you'll do well, you've still got most of your better players and they should be good enough to get you in and amongst the playoffs area.

Yeah I'd expect them to. Out of our current squad, those good enough for next season are: Bywater, Price, Mears, Leacock, Davis (but I hope to God we sell him), Todd, Nyatanga, McEveley, Pearson, Barnes (who I think will stay), Savage, Jones, Miller (won't be there though), Villa. Other than that, they're not good enough. We need a right winger, two new centre backs, two new strikers, one or two centre mids and a left winger. I think we'll be ok then. There is a massive gap, didn't realise it was as big as it was to be honest. I think we'll do alright next season. PJ won't let them be sh*t!!
joely22 Posted 14 January 2008 Posted 14 January 2008 We'll have Earnie off you aswell The midget with the booze problem?!
