Moreton Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 Just about all of those people in that pic are either gone or going ...apart from Milan obviously
Guest shearfox Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 Thank god we have a manager now that knows what we needed and as gone out and signed the right players.
Staf Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 I really did think Martin Allen was the right man and i thought at the time he made some good signings i could not of been much more wrong
Head Honcho Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 Sorry to piss on everyones parade but I'm sure 90% of posters on Foxestalk hailed every signing by Allen and Milan as if we'd signed the new Pele So what do you all do now? Oh that's right slag Martin Allen off LMFAO
Ozwin Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 ^ That. Everyone was so upbeat and happy. We beat Watford and everything and everyone creamed over what we could achieve this season. Then it went straight down the pan.
Matt Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 I thought Martin was the best thing since sliced bread, and I was upset when he went, I went on for it for quite a while, but when his replacement was Gary Megson I think I/We had a right, looking back Megson and Ollie haven't and didn't get the best out of the players Martin signed, but I believe we were doing ok under Martin, and Martin did get the best out of the players he signed, that is not Martin fault that the next 2 managers that came in didn't. Also if look at the stats I think at most 5 Allen signings is the most that have been in one team, so that means 6 players from last seasons awful campaign have been fielded. Yesterday was the first real time we could field a team with minimal players from last season, We had 4 players from last seasons team in team yesterday. Equally i've just had a look and 1 player from MA era was there Clemence. There's ins and outs of the Martin Allen era, I think he would have and will do a good job wherever his next job may be and I wish him luck. I'm not going to slag him off because I made it well know I liked him and fully supported what he was doing, but I am over it now. Onto the Ollie era, and if we have more like we did yesterday it'll be a good era, but we've felt like this many times before to be let down, so i've got some excitement and optimism back but lets stay calm for the time being, when we reach several games unbeaten that is the time to get excited!

dandannieldanok Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 So what do you all do now? Oh that's right slag Martin Allen off Why is that funny, the guy deserves it. He signed 12 or 14 players and the majority turned out to be shite. Holloway has signed 6, and for me all 6 (maybe with the exception of Hayles) are probably better than anyone Allen acquired.

For me Allen was a c*ck and I thought it from the first game against Blackpool. He had signed 14 (ish) players but we still did not have a team. (weso on the wing? - FGS) Future managers could not do anything with this "team" because it did not exist. Against cov you can start to see what a "team" looks like. I'm not sure how we can say Allen was doing alright - the first game was a disaster (with his own team) - and then if memory serves me right (it may be wrong) he only won 1 league game - the other games we were a disjointed mess. But everyone sees things differently Nice to see your sig message "warming" Ultra how long before "Milan promised wembley, Milan is a god?"

But everyone sees things differently Couldn't agree more, I felt sick to see Weso on the right wing and Shaun Newton on the left wing against Blackpool, especially after all the hype created by Allen himself. I'll admit to questioning Ollie and his tactics but compared to Allen he is a footballing genius.

It's funny because almost every fvcker on Foxestalk thought he'd signed the best thing since sliced bread at the time and now procede to slag him off for doing it! I and a few others on the other hand doubted almost all of them and were told to shut the fvck up. This is what happens when your main source of information on a player stems from Football Manager as I said earlier LMFAO

Allen left us when we were NINTH in the league - a position we hadn't reached for some time before he arrived and have yet to get anywhere near since. Even in the Blackpool defeat, we showed a lot more creativity than in the majority of league games under Allen's successors. Would we have been in a better position if Allen had stayed? I suspect so, but it's impossible to prove either way. As for proclamation of our chairman as a god, the day that happens from me will be when Holloway wins his first major trophy. That's slightly more likely than hell freezing over, but not by much.
dandannieldanok Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Allen left us when we were NINTH in the league - a position we hadn't reached for some time before he arrived and have yet to get anywhere near since. We'd played 3 or 4 games
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 Just about all of those people in that pic are either gone or going ...apart from Milan obviously I cant see clem going any where
dandannieldanok Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 ... and thrashed the division leaders... With possibliest the luckiest 4-1 victory I've ever seen.
nickm Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 ffs we've one a single game and all of a sudden hollaway and his signings are being hailed as the next best thing-give it four or five games and then we'll see if we've turned a corner!
Daggers Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 LMFAO Shit! Someone get the Ass Doctor over here - QUICK! For ****s sake, this man has no ass. Oh my God! Oh tempora, o mores! Martin Allen had better be sorry when he hears about this. The bastard.
Ric Flair Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 What I find very interesting is that Mr Mandaric has interfered with any signings or potential signings under Mr Holloway, but under Mr Allen, Mandaric was supposed to have dictated who was signed and who wasn't. Either that was a load of bollocks or Milan has learnt his lesson, I wonder which. Considering Allen still hasn't got another job, suggests that there's more than meets the eye with him. It's a shame as I still think Martin Allen had something about him that would have made us very competitive in this league. We'd be higher up the table than we are now had he stayed, but long term wise i'd dread to think what he might have done to the club.

MikeyT Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 I really did think Martin Allen was the right man and i thought at the time he made some good signings i could not of been much more wrong I'm pretty sure most of the Leicester fans felt the same way as you did. I know i did as well.
Daggers Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 Hindsight is 20:20. For example: 2007/8 Champions2008/9 Relegated 2009/10 Champions *giggle* Lovin' ya work Al!
Master Fox Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 Jimmy Floyd, one can only dream what might have been. Folwer still makes me growler.

You're more fickle than the people who praised his signings and slated him.
