davieG Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 I've just finished reading it, first impressions. He likes to have plenty of Strikers He comes across as very emotional and wears his heart on his sleeve. He likes to give his all to the job in hand hence his adoption of any club or fans he gels with - this is probably what got him into trouble with Plymouth He seems to care deeply for the welfare and success of 'his' players whether they are staying or going He likes players that look him in the eye when talking, are honest with him and committed to the cause. His family comes first, well sort of. I'm sure he means it in many ways but obviously football is a massive part of his life as well He should have married Gary Penrise, in fact I'm sure his wife Kim thinks he is. Gary Penrice discovered his 2 Hungarians at Plymouth as well as most of his other signings Don't be surprised to see Scott Sinclair here one day as he thinks he's a great footballer and a really well set up lad. Of course it could all be bollocks but he does seem pretty genuine and that's what come across in his book

davieG Posted 15 January 2008 Author Posted 15 January 2008 I'd be loathe to recommend anyone spending their hard earn money on anything least of all a book. Liking it or value for money is so subjective it might be worth it for 4/5 people but the 5th person could end up well pissed off with me. Suffice to say I got it as a gift and I've enjoyed reading it and am more than happy that it was purchased for me. Have you tried the local library, it seems to held Blaby, Coalville, Hinckley, Mkt Harboro, Oadby, Sheshed & Syston, not checked the City Libraries.
Koke Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 I read the book when it first got published back in September or something. All the things davieG said are correct, Gary Penrice and him are best mates and he is practically married to him rather than his wife Kim. He loves his family to bits and he's a family man (aren't we all ). I got the book as a gift as well and it was well worth reading it. If you wanna get your hands on his book just wait till February 9th, loads of bitter Plymouth fans will be throwing theirs out.
Daggers Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Obligatory Xmas present I'm up to his return to Rovers.
Ultra Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Presumably an updated paperback edition will be available in the summer. The last chapter is still being written, but let's hope it has a happy ending..
