Isn't this basically just a Stearman/Chambers and Campbell/Hume debate?

sort of but ollies got a job in choosing the striker partnership, competition for places there! does anybody if collins john is coming back?? feel really sorry for fryatt but he might end up going, hes got sooooo mcuh potential but hes not showing it, maybe he could do better now we are getting decent service to the strikers?

A strong squad is what really matters, you need options to bring off the bench and players t ocome in if you get injuries. To get out of this league I still don't think we are strong enough.

Players like Hayles and Ngotty are unlikely to last for longer than the end of the season, I'd also like to see a more experienced left back at the club

Campbell over Hume?? Behave!

Surely its obvious to everyone that Hume is a far better player than Campbell in EVERY department!?.....

Cant believe its its even being debated to be honest.

I too would pick Hume over DJ but i think saying he's better in every department is going a bit to far. lol

what do you think is Citys strongest 11 when everyones fit

heres mine:

GK: ALNWICK. always

LB: SHEEHAN. for all the balls he put in the box and his freekicks

CB: KISNORBO. cause he is such a threat in the air

CB: McCAULEY. like above

RB: STEARMAN. because of his late good form and also a threat

LM: LACZKO. STAR MAN AGAINT COV

RM: BORI or KAEBI. just because of all the big deal about him from summer, and i like to see him play

CM: OAKLEY AND CLEMENCE. no arguing about that.

ST: HOWARD. gonna score a lot more goals, 100% player

ST: HUME. just because of his alround game and work rate and always gives 100% for this club, and if he doesnt score he usually set someone up

HAYLES TO BE AN IMPACT PLAYER FROM THE BENCH.

spot on mate - but kaebi has been transfer listed

I couldn't agree more.

Stearman was up against a Centre-Forward playing out of position gainst Cov, and he was probably better suited to marking him than Chambers. However, I think Chambers will be better against your standard championship winger. Stears gets turned too easily, whereas Chambers is much quicker on his feet, and better positionally at right-back.

I can also see us bringing another left-back in. Mattock is an excellent prospect, but it may be expecting too much week in and out to play all the time. I'm not convinced by Sheehan other than at set-pieces

I wouldn't be surprised either if we go for another Centre-Back - one that can pass to a basic standrad as well as defend, to improve the distribution out the back. Other than Mattock, none of Saturdays back line have any natural ability in that department!

It is. And possibly a McAuley/N'Gotty debate as well.

Everybody knows our best midfield at the moment so that's not really going to change anywhere.

Personally I'd like to see:

Alnwick

Chambers McAuley Kisnorbo Mattock

Bori Clemence Oakley Lackzo

Hume Howard.

anyone who leaves out Hume from their strongest 11 is tres strange imo

Alnwick; Chambers - Kiss - McG - Mattock; Lazcko - Clem - Oakley - Bori; Hume - Howard

this also would be my team

Some of you lot must be so stupid.

Stearman has played awful in over 20 games this season, Chambers is by far a better player.

Yet you all put Stearman in as your best 11.

It's just unbelieveable.

I think our strongest eleven pretty much speaks for itself now, albeit with a few exceptions. I would still have Hume in the team as he can create something out of nothing, but its going to be hard to accomodate him in now.

Nope it's just that some of us realise that Holloway see's more of them and is in a better position to choose than us, He clearly like's Stearman and that's good enough for me.

Well you all know of my hate for Stearman by now so id obviously have Chambers.

I also rekon we should sell Mc Auley, we could buy 2 Matt Oakleys for his price.

We could buy a good centre back and centre mid for that, maybe even 3 good players for £1m

That's exactly the side I'd choose, especially based on Saturday's perfomance.

There's not much between Hume and DJ but Hume's fit and I won't get anywhere with the idea of having a mobile, good-passing centre-back while the incredible hulks reign supreme.

I think Sheehan/Mattock should be developed together and Bori/Gradel the same but Gradel's been exiled and I doubt he'll be back though I fail for one minute to understand the reason why.

Taggart has talked about having been given a squad who will feed into the first team but there's no Gradel in it. Truth is I have my doubts that any of the young players wil be truly pushed through in the future, but we'll see.

Does Holloway have a record of bringing young players through at Plymouth? Or does he really subscribe to the safety first theory of bringing in ready made players.

While I'm on that subject does anyone know if managers still get a percentage of transfer fees in and out? Because, if so, that might well affect whether you played "signed" players or developed our own. Yes I am cynical.

If Holloway doesn't think he'll be using him much, it's probably best for him to be playing regularly just one league below. I very much doubt that he won't be in the clubs thoughts if he's already regularly and impressing at League One level.

At the moment Hume'll be shunted out wide should Bori not be playing, so I really don't see any way for him to get a foothold right now.

Depends if you think Hume is a winger or not.

Me I think Hume is a decent striker. Quick, hard to mark, 100% attitude, prepared to have a pop, closes people down, earns his money every time.

But as a winger, he's a compromise. A hurrying, scurrying make do. If I really wanted a winger I'd pick Gradel ahead of Hume.

Cant argue with that!

That looks about right to me!

I suppose some people would argue that Chamers and Sheehan should be the full backs though.

But my choice is based after watching us against Cov on Saturday.
