Finnegan Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 :scarf: I was entertained. The play at the end had me bouncing around and cheering. Great fun.

placidcasual Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 Well, thats football season over. Now we have baseball season to look forward to Let's go Tribe. Some of us live in a city where we can see football in the summer.
Ultra Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 Neither did I.We killed a keg by half time. Completely boring game (offensively) Brady was pressured like he hadn't been all season. Giants D won the game for them. So how come Eli Manning won the MVP award? They still had to score touchdowns to win the game. In a football context, it was like the Wimbledon 1980s team taking on and beating Brazil 1970. Artistry succumbed to brute force. But I wish I'd put a few quid on the Giants!
Joe. Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 I thought I'd watch some of this last night seeing as I'd never properly watched any NFL before. I'd heard reports of it being terrible but I thought I'd see for myself. Those reports were right. What a poor sport it is. It's the most stop-start thing I've ever seen with breaks in play every few seconds. Madness. Fell asleep after watching the first quarter and a bit .
mancunianfox Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 I actually really enjoyed the game last night and I thought it was one of the better bowls I have seen. It wasn't great offensively but it was a tight and tactical game. I fully expected the Giants to win and I was very happy that they did. I got a bit worried by how quickly they were turning possession back over to the Patriots, especially in the second quarter but they survived it and Ely Manning really stepped up in the final quarter and what an awesome catch on that 32 (???) yard play. The Giants did a really good job to keep Brady's influence on the game limited and as the game wore on you could visibly see it getting to him. A very good win.

It's one of those weird American things where you can only be the MVP if you A) score points or B) sell alot of shirts with your name on it.
Fox You Forest Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 I can see the Giant's Crumbling, Manning is shocking 90% of the time. The commentators make me laugh they love him one week hate him for three weeks love for one week and so on. Cant name them because they use different networks for different games over here on sky. So it's basically all of them bar Madden.New England 45 - 13 Giants for me. I couldnt have been more wrong. . Great game i thought

Me too - tried to stay awake longer but as soon as more breaks in play came about in the second quater I dozed off - note for next year: Dont lie in bed watching the superbowl!

What a drab affair.
Jordan Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 The game was dominated by a world-class performance by the Giants' defense (particularly their defensive line). However, the Giants' final drive--and especially that 35-yard completion by Eli Manning to David Tyree--will be the moments that will live on in sports lore. Manning the Younger took his team down the field in an awesome, dramatic fashion that evoked Joe Montana. In the Blue half of New York, we won't even be able to give everything nicknames. When Giants fans will say things like, "that drive," "The Play," or "The Upset," we will know exactly what we're talking about for generations to come. Eli wins the MVP award because of his great play in the clutch and because the NFL can't split the award between Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyiora. Giants fans and the media really ought to tip their caps to Eli for his outstanding play in the postseason; he shattered four years of harsh criticism with aplomb. That was an outstanding Giants win. It wasn't just the drama that made the win so satisfying--the way the team exceeded not just the critics' expectations, but those of their own fans made us all giddy throughout their playoff run. Also, to humble the dominant, undefeated yet despicable Patriots is a joy in itself. As the game's storyline unfolded over the past few weeks and culminated in an upset win, NFL fans outside of New England can really feel that the "good guys" beat the "bad guys." Like Michael Strahan, I'm "thinking about the parade that moved from Boston to New York City.'' See you tomorrow, Big Blue! Well, thats football season over. Now we have baseball season to look forward to For those of us who have can appreciate such a fine sport it's not "thumbs down" or "yawn" at all! And even if one's team is out of the playoffs by July, well, there's still summer weather to look forward to.
Uncle Albert Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 Great night last night! Had my 2 litre bottle of coke and a big bag of Cool Original Doritos and Salsa dip. The game wasnt bad either.
