Smudge Posted 24 January 2008 Posted 24 January 2008 The New England Patriots have already broken the record for the most wins in a season, currently 18-0. The previous record was held by the Miami Dolphins at 14. If they win the Superbowl on February 3rd they will have had a perfect 19-0 season. Yes I know Search isn't working and can't find another thread so delete if it's already out there.
James. Posted 24 January 2008 Posted 24 January 2008 Forgive my ignorance but does that mean they only play 18 games in a season? Bit half-hearted isn't it?

Except that they are already 18-0. 16 games in the regular season and they have beaten San Diego in the AFC Championship game and Jacksonville in the Divisional round.
Fox You Forest Posted 24 January 2008 Posted 24 January 2008 I can see the Giant's Crumbling, Manning is shocking 90% of the time. The commentators make me laugh they love him one week hate him for three weeks love for one week and so on. Cant name them because they use different networks for different games over here on sky. So it's basically all of them bar Madden. New England 45 - 13 Giants for me. The one big problem i have with the sport is they play 4, 15 minute quaters yet the game lasts 3 hours.
C-man Posted 24 January 2008 Posted 24 January 2008 Patriots by more than 10 in my opinion. The Giants gave them a run for their money in Week 17 (38-35) but I can't see the Giants getting close in this one. Fantastic season for the boys from Foxboro' their dynasty continues.
Smiffy Posted 24 January 2008 Posted 24 January 2008 I think we're going to see a massive blow-out. The Pats have managed to make everyone (except Baltimore, Indy, and their last game against Giants) look stupid, even when they trailed in the first half. The Giants gave them a run last time but they're inconsistant at best and NE didn't look great. If anyone had a chance at beating the Pats I think it was probably Dallas.

Personally I thought that the Jaguars could have beat them. Dallas are nothing without a fully fit TO, and Romo had certain 'distractions' at the time when they needed him most. The Chargers last week had a chance but I didn't realise how good the NE defence in the red-zone was until then. On a side note, can't wait for the NFL to come back to the UK this year. Wembley was amazing, and i just hope the Vikings are there this year.

Thats their two major weapons.
placidcasual Posted 24 January 2008 Posted 24 January 2008 The Giants need to make Brady throw under pressure by being aggressive in their defence instead of allowing him time in the pocket, they need to attack the Patriots offensive line. They also need to score on long drives that take time off the clock and tires out the veteran secondary of the Patriots.

LT and his visor You're right, and Antonio Gates wasn't 100% either. They still had 3 or 4 opportunities to score TDs though but NE did well when it mattered.

The only problem with that is his offensive line is so good nobody is able to put pressure on him. They have three pro-bowlers in Light, Mankins, and Koppen. Strahan is strong but the Giants aren't exactly breaking records on defense.

IF the Giants are to win, they have to find a way to pressure Brady.
Ultra Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 They've done it against Romo and Favre, so it's not entirely out of the question. The Giants have thrived on being the underdog all the way through the playoffs. They've already given NE one decent game this season and will be fired up to avenge their previous defeat. The result could be a lot closer than you think..
C-man Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 Jessica Simpson or Superbowl. Its a toughie They are no more! She must be the most hated woman in Texas right now! OK Magazine stated on its Web site that Romo and Simpson were splitsville only shortly after the Cowboys fell to the New York Giants in their only playoff game earlier this month. Romo's line, apparently delivered over the phone, was said to be that he "thought it was better if they went back to being friends."Romo reportedly cannot cope with diva-like behaviour. An unidentified source (aren't they all in celebrity gossip?) told OK that "Tony has finally started to realize how high-maintenance Jessica is. We're talking diva status." The New York Daily News added to the rumours, noting that a "final breaking point came when Romo told Simpson he wouldn't move to L.A. — and she responded there was no way she could leave Tinseltown." The couple took a much-discussed vacation to Cabo, Mexico, days before the Cowboys' playoff loss. Fans angrily accused Simpson of distracting Romo at home games, and Terrell Owens tearfully/hilariously came to his teammate's defence on the matter following loss to New York. Please Note: I do not read OK magazine, I first heard this story on NFL Network

Smiffy Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 Well done, sir! I didn't see that coming. Didn't think the Giants D had it in 'em.
placidcasual Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 Well done, sir! I didn't see that coming. Didn't think the Giants D had it in 'em. Neither did I. We killed a keg by half time. Completely boring game (offensively) Brady was pressured like he hadn't been all season. Giants D won the game for them.
